Pete Doherty of the Libertines and bandmate Carl Bartin recalled an emotional period in the company's history when Louis Theroux's new film was released. Pete, 44, who has struggled with heroin, said he was 'in the honeymoon period with crack and opium,' and he was barred from the band before breaking into Carl's house. Louis: They were doing these gigs without me, they did Glastonbury without me, and I went round [to his house] to tell him, "I know you are worried about the medications, please don't go on without me."

In the early 1970s, Pete Doherty of his band The Libertines dominated the charts. Carl Bart in London formed the band in 1997, but the band wasn't established in 2002 until the release of their debut studio album Up the Bracket in 2002. Pete joined the company in 2004, but the group reformed in 2010 and became headliners at Reading and Leeds Festivals that year.

On Wednesday, the Libertines returned to their spiritual home after a surprise performance in Margate's seaside town. During a live show in the Kent town's Oval Bandstand, the four-piece band, fronted by Pete Doherty and Carl Barat, entertained audiences with songs from their back catalogue. In comparison to their usual tumultuous gigs, only a handful of hundred people were allowed to attend the intimate performance after purchasing tickets.
