A new BBC radio series called Loves Folk will celebrate some very ordinary heroes through folk music to mark the 200th anniversary of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI). Emma Neave-Webb (right with songwriter Kris Drever) left her job as a personal assistant at an accountancy firm to devote herself to marine animals while army veteran Jeff Allen (left with songwriters Sam Lakeman and Cara Dillon) found solace in the sea when he was suffering from depression.

Holy orders!Worshippers blast vicar for installing beer pumps in their 600-year-old church saying move is a 'desecration'

Worshippers have slammed a Cornish viccar for putting a bar and two beer pumps in their local 600-year-old church. After the bar was installed before the St Ives September Festival, churchgoers in Cornwall dismissed the development as a 'desecration' of the Grade I-listed St Ia's Church. At the seaside town's two-week music and arts festival, which draws thousands of visitors to the seaside town, the cathedral, which was first built in the early-1400s, will provide alcohol. The parish church, which is dedicated to St Ia of Cornwall, is expected to host top performers, including Molly Hocking, Bailey Tomkinson, and Cara Dillon. Despite outrage from shocked locals who said St Ia's is a church, not a pub,' concertgoers will now be able to buy drinks from the new church bar made from two taps installed by St Ives Brewery.
