JACK TEAGUE: What to do if you're worried that your favourite pub is closing down? Well, if you're retired British tennis No. 1 Tim Henman, who earned more than £7 million in prize money before retiring in 2007, buy it. Struggling from the aftermath of the pandemic, Henman's local watering hole The Chequers, was about to shut it down for good. I'm delighted to report that the 48-year-old has purchased the boozer in Aston Tirrold, Oxfordshire, which is located in a magnificent Grade II-listed building dating back to the 15th century. Henman's assistance, the restaurant, which had been closed for the past year, is back, operating as a gastropub with only a small change to the name. Olivier at The Chequers has taken over, with the pub's long-serving French chef Olivier Bouet taking the kitchen.

Any Aboriginal chiefs, as well as articles on her royal predecessors' contributions in expanding the British empire into the Antipodes, have expressed sadness over the Queen's death aged 96. Although her early Australian tours featured demonstrations of boomerang and spear throwing, her First Nations people's interactions became more meaningful as the years progressed. On Friday, Northern Territory Senator Jacinta Price was one of Indigenous politicians to pay their respects to the late monarch. Price wrote on Facebook, 'Thank you Your Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. May you now Rest In Peace.' The queen is pictured at the top of a 'culture show' near Cairns in 2002, top right with esteemed elder Evelyn Scott at Government House in 1992, and bottom right with an Aboriginal schoolboy in Perth 2011.

FitzSimons was thrown out of contention with Indigenous ABC TV presenter Stan Grant (right with wife Tracey) over his book on Captain James Cook in 2021. Grant accused his former friend of making Cook sound like 'the prototypical Aussie good bloke,' and slammed his description of him as 'an enthusiastic imperialist.' FitzSimons defended his work and said that it had been rigorously researched over several years in reaction. Grant's relationship with FitzSimons and his wife Lisa Wilkinson, the project's host, deteriorated in April last year.

FitzSimons, a commentator, and newly elected senator Price have both highlighted the fact that their positions on Indigenous affairs are based on a multitude of sources. During an interview for a new newspaper column, Price (right, with her grandmother) accuses FitzSimons of "giving racism a voice." FitzSimons, 60, went to Knox Grammar, Sydney University, and played for the Wallabies. He and his partner, Lisa Wilkinson, live in a multimillion-dollar house on Sydney's lower north shore (both pictured left). Price, 41, was born in the Northern Territory, has been a victim of domestic violence and does not want an Indigenous voice to parliament.
