Cameron Carter, 19, had been planning his first ever flight but had no idea of the danger awaiting him when he landed in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 15. Mr Carter had been on three connecting flights to Powell, Wyoming, to visit a friend and interview for a job as a trainee mechanic. However, he never went beyond Honolulu and was never in touch with his family in Bathurst, central west NSW, the whole time he was there. He knew he was in a difficult situation right away, and when he finally locked up, he became so bloated that he didn't eat for eight days.
