Wilson has been sidelined since the summer with back and hamstring issues and, while he will be given every chance to prove his fitness, Confidential can reveal that he remains a doubt.

Isak was forced off at half-time during Sunday's 2-1 win at Wolves with an eye complaint. The Swede had taken a ball to the head in the first half and we understand there was swelling around his eye. That problem has since eased and would not have kept him out of this weekend's game at Craven Cottage.

Ibukun Quadri, 21, called Wilson a '****' during England's 2022 FIFA World Cup opener with Iran on 21 November 2022. Ruthless Newcastle pushed Burnley closer to the Premier League trapdoor with a 4-1 rout at Turf Moor that boosts their Europa League hopes. It was a crushing afternoon for Burnley as Nottingham Forest's 3-1 win at Sheffield United left them five points from safety with only two left to play - a trip to Tottenham next week before Forest visit on the final day. And it was the same old story. Vincent Kompany's men began brightly and created a string of chances in the first 15 minutes but Callum Wilson scored from Newcastle's first real attack 19 minutes in before goals from Sean Longstaff and Bruno Guimaraes put the game beyond doubt before half time.

CRAIG HOPE: Callum Wilson's pectoral surgery and absence of up to three months could cost Newcastle United millions of pounds. Why? Well, my observations in January, when Atletico Madrid's loan application was rejected, was that Wilson would likely leave this summer. With his deal coming to an end in 2025 and him turning 32 this month, I'm told there is a mutual understanding between club and player that the time has come for a change.
