The 2026 and 2030 Winter Olympics will be open to players, bringing an end to a 12-year absence from the Games

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 3, 2024
The NHL will invite the best hockey players in the world to compete for their countries at the forthcoming two Winter Olympics, bringing an end to a decade-long absence. According to an agreement signed Friday by the NHL Players' Union, the International Ice Hockey Federation, and the IOC, the world's best hockey league will invite its players to compete in the Winter Games in 2026 and 2030 in Milan and the IOC. NHL players have not been at the Olympics since 2014 in Sochi - a year where Canada claimed Gold, Sweden won silver, and Finland clinched the bronze

With the remaining 12 players selected by fans, NHL has announced the initial 32 players for the 2023 All-Star Game

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 6, 2023
The NHL has revealed a list of the first 32 names to be chosen for the 2023 All-Star Game, which will be hosted in South Florida. One player from each squad has been chosen to compete in this year's festivities, which have traditionally featured a skills competition and games between divisions. During the next 12 days, the NHL also revealed that three new players (two skaters and a goalie) would be voted by a fan vote.

Nathan MacKinnon of Avalanche has been named as the NHL's highest-paid player with a $100.8 million contract extension

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 21, 2022
Nathan MacKinnon is named as the best-paid player in the NHL's salary cap era, outperforming rival Connor McDavid's $12.5 million average annual salary hike by $100,000 per year. According to a person familiar with the situation, MacKinnon, who turned 27 earlier this month, has signed an eight-year contract worth $100.8 million. Since the team did not reveal the terms of the deal, the individual spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Tuesday. The new $12.6 million salary cap, which goes into place at the start of the 2023-24 season, goes into operation. McDavid's $100 million, eight-year contract with the Edmonton Oilers in 2017 was the first annual cap hit since the system was introduced in 2005.
