Former NFL quarterback Cam Newton has criticized Tyreek Hill's conduct during his recent detainment by police before a Miami Dolphins game. Hill was pulled from his car near the team's Hard Rock Stadium less than three hours before kickoff of Miami's Week 1 game.  The Super Bowl winner was placed on the ground and handcuffed, and teammate Calais Campbell - who drove by the scene and stopped in an effort to play peacemaker - also was handcuffed by police during the incident. 

Tyreek Hill begged 'don't leave me' to his Dolphins teammates as he was being handcuffed by Miami-Dade police prior to Sunday's Week 1 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars in South Florida . As Dolphins defensive lineman Calais Campbell told ESPN's First Take, Hill's detainment in Miami Gardens was 'a crazy situation' and 'definitely unnecessary' due to the physical force police were using on Hill. Campbell was driving to the game when he noticed one lane of traffic was blocked. When he got out of his vehicle to see the situation, he saw his teammate being taken down by a Miami-Dade officer.

New footage has surfaced showing Tyreek Hill 's Miami Dolphins teammate Odell Beckham Jr. rushing to side during the former's apprehension prior to Sunday's season opener. 'What the f*** happened?' Beckham asked after seeing his teammate being handcuffed by Miami-Dade police over an alleged moving violation. When another teammate, defensive lineman Calais Campbell, told Beckham that Hill was being cited for speeding, Beckham is heard replying: 'Ask them if they know what a 720S is. The bitch go fast.' A 720S is a McLaren sports car, which appeared in the background of the various social media videos of Sunday's pre-game incident.

A second Miami Dolphins player said he was detained this morning outside Hard Rock Stadium while trying to deescalate teammate Tyreek Hill's altercation with police. Miami defensive lineman Calais Campbell said after the Dolphins win over the Jacksonville Jaguars that Hill was not the only person placed in handcuffs a block from the stadium. 'For him to put handcuffs on me, I felt some type of way. But that just goes to show how resilient we are. We didn't let that stop us,' Campbell said in a post-game interview.

It's just days away that the fortunes and futures of the league's 32 franchises will be changed in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. This round, only 31 picks would be made, as the Miami Dolphins were forced to forfeit their pick due to being found guilty of tampering. Calais Campbell signed with the Falcons on March 29, but not until Aaron Rodgers made a very appealing bid. Campbell, a six-time Pro Bowler, has signed a one-year, $7 million contract with Atlanta, extending his tenure into his 16th year after being released by the Ravens. Campbell said he had offers from the Dolphins and Eagles, but he'd rather weigh a recruiting pitch from the prospective Jets-bound Rodgers.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Atlanta Falcons have made another big signing, signing Pro Bowl defensive lineman Calais Campbell to a one-year contract. The concretes of the deal have yet to be revealed, but the 6-foot-8, 307-pound Campbell will give Atlanta an agile, veteran presence who was regarded as a team leader in Atlanta. Campbell, a six-time Pro Bowler, has been one of football's most offensive defensive ends since being drafted out of Miami by the Arizona Cardinals in 2008. With 14.5 as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017, he led the NFL in sacks in 14 games for the Ravens in 2022.

According to rumors, the New England Patriots may have a quarterback issue. Mac Jones, the second year quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens, is expected to have sustained a high ankle sprain during the latter stages of Sunday's 37-26 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. Jone's last pass attempt of the day was interrupted in the fourth quarter when he was intercepted. Calais Campbell, a Ravens defensive lineman, struck Jones as attempting the pass, causing the Jones leg to be bent at an awkward angle.
