Personal life
He was introduced to model Niki Taylor on the fall of 2006 but he was engaged to her after only three dates. Taylor is five years old. On December 27, 2006 at the Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla, California, they wed. The couple requested that donations be sent to Victory Junction Gang Camp, a camp for terminally ill children in North Carolina, rather than gifts.
On March 4, 2009, his first child, daughter, was born one day before his wife's 34th birthday. Taylor gave birth to her second child, Lamar, a boy, on November 16, 2011. Matt Martinez, a former Olympian, appeared in a Skechers Footwear magazine ad (2003) with his pregnant wife and twin sons from her marriage to Miami Hooters linebacker Matt Martinez.

Racing career
Lamar began racing go-karts at the age of 5 and has won a total of 25 track championships and three International Karting Federation Regional championships. Lamar started racing stock cars at Stockton 99 Speedway and came in eleventh in points at the age of 16. He competed on many West Coast short tracks and won the Shell Oil Tri-Track championship over the next three years.
In the year 2000, Lamar began competing in the USAC Western States Sprint Car Series. He won Rookie of the Year after posting seven top-fives and finishing third in points. He joined the NASC AutoZone Elite Division Southwest Series in the 2013 season and was named Rookie of the Year in the same year. In 2002, he would win two races and finish second in points.
In 2005, Lamar signed with Kevin Harvick Incorporated, and only in a handful of NASCAR Busch Series, Craftsman Truck Series, and NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series series races. In addition to two victories in the West Series, Lamar also won the Copper World Classic at Phoenix International Raceway earlier this year. He rode the No. 69 in the Truck Series. 92 Chevrolet Silverado twice, with a best finish of 21st. In his Busch Series debut in the No. 8th, he came in eighth place. 33 Chevrolet Butcher was wrecked early in the game and finished 41st, putting him in last place. In 2006, he would begin racing in the Busch Series full time. 77 Chevrolet and a second-place finish at Daytona International Speedway began the season. Lamar's results started to decline in the first three weeks of the season, and he was forced to leave early in the season at the request of Dollar General, who wanted NEXTEL Cup drivers in the vehicle.
Lamar attempted to make his Nextel Cup Series debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway in October and at the Carter Simo Racing No. 69 in November. 08 Dodge, but unfortunately, they were unable to qualify for both categories. After struggling to qualify for several attempts with E&M in the Cup Series, he returned to the Nationwide Series to drive the No. 66. Gary Baker, 37, is a Ford Fusion. It was announced on October 10, 2008, that Lamar would share the Braun Racing No. 1 with the Braun Racing No. 7. Brian Vickers was a 32-year-old Toyota in 2009. He was later released after finishing in top ten in his first few races of 2009.
