Dressed in a £30,000 dress (pictured left), Holly Willoughby , 43, made a triumphant red carpet return at London 's O2 to present the Bruce Forsyth entertainment award to I'm a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here. To the delight of fans, the evening was just like old times for the presenter as she reunited with her former ITV colleagues, including Dermot O'Leary (pictured bottom inset) , Rochelle Humes, and Alison Hammond (pictured right). But for her ex-ITV co-host, Phillip Schofield (pictured right inset) , talk of her glittering red carpet return at the NTA Awards may bring a hint of FOMO, because just a couple of years ago, it would have been him alongside Holly at the centre of the event. Then and now: Fascinating historical photos of Torquay show the Devon seaside town's glory days as the 'Queen of the English Riviera' - and its present-day look

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 1, 2024
Torquay's tourism industry began in the 19th century. The town's mild climate and picture-perfect beaches first attracted wealthy tourists looking to glean health benefits from a holiday by the sea. Over time, Torquay evolved to entice a wider range of customers, becoming popular with holidaying factory workers. But in the 1960s, the town began to face stiff competition from cheap overseas resorts. Despite these challenges, Torquay is still a popular English destination. Read on to see a snapshot of the seaside resort during - and after - its tourism boom, from a packed promenade in 1922 to Bruce Forsyth hosting a beach beauty contest in 1957...

The toxic truth about who's to blame for tarnishing Strictly for ever: AMANDA PLATELL

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 30, 2024
Twenty years ago I burst into the meeting of senior newspaper executives and announced to a group of mostly middle-aged males that I had just seen a programme that would change Saturday night TV viewing for ever. It was a ballroom dancing competition, I explained, in which novices were partnered with professional dancers and they all competed for a glitterball trophy. As I gushed about the show's other magical elements - the sequins, the make-up, the live music, the gorgeous gowns - I was greeted not with enthusiasm but a sea of bemused expressions. Even when I mentioned that it would be hosted by the legendary Bruce Forsyth, complete with his new catchphrase 'Keeeep dancing!', I failed to make an impression. I had, of course, watched the first ever episode of Strictly Come Dancing and was so entranced that I predicted that it would eclipse Simon Cowell's domination of Saturday nights.

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 21, 2024
Bruno Tonioli, 68, grew close to Sir Bruce Forsyth when he was a judge on Strictly Come Dancing - so when Britain's Got Talent was filming at the London Palladium he visited his ashes. Sir Bruce's ashes were laid beneath the stage at the famous West End venue a year after his death from pneumonia in August 2017. It was the perfect resting place as he first hosted Sunday Night at the London Palladium in 1958 and performed his one man show for the last time there in 2015.

a look at the ghost mansions on the millionaires' row: Bruce Forsyth's £6 million home among palatial residences on the Surrey estate has been left to rot

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 7, 2024
These are the lavish, emptied mansions that have turned part of Britain's most exclusive residential district into a ghost town. The luxurious multi-million homes are located on Surrey's pristine Wentworth estate, home to the wealthy and famous, but many have been left in a state of decay with their owners unable to live in them. Straidarran, one of the most prominent estate on the island, belonged to Sir Bruce Forsyth, where he spent his remaining years, but it has now fallen into a sad shape after it was sold by his widow Wilnelia for £5.7 million in April 2020.

CRAIG REVEL HORWOOD, a celebrity spotter, wanted to land a'ma-zing' country estate in the middle of nowhere... until he became Strictly Spooked!

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 3, 2024
As the big five-ohr.com approached in 2015, I was beginning to feel the commotion and bustle of my London life was exhausting. I started yearning for something a little more quiet. Don't get me wrong, I loved living in my little pink two-down in Camden, North London, for 20 years. But I am a born entertainer, and there is nothing more satisfying than rustling up spag bol or curry for 20-plus people. I longed for the day I had space to prepare special menus plate by plate rather than buffet style.

Anton Du Beke is releasing his second studio album, six years after his debut album was bombed. 'I survived Eton so this is a walk in the park', says Billy Smart circus heir who went from living in a 12-bedroom Georgian mansion to flitting between friends' sofas and budget hotels in spectacular fall from grace

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 19, 2023
The Durley Grange Hotel's 12-bedroom Grade II-listed Georgian mansion, where he was living until his eviction last year, is a far cry from the 12-bedroom Georgian mansion, which was pictured on Google maps and garish carpets. But, as the 49-year-old Old Etonian tells me in painfully truth, 'needs must' when you find yourself falling from Big Top to rock bottom. Billy Smart, the legendary 1950s showman and son of playboy multimillionaire Billy Smart Jr., grew up in large homes in London, Monaco, Marbella, and Florida. Prince Andrew swam in his family's pool, Ringo Starr taught him to play the drums, and Bruce Forsyth was his godfather. However, although he has been ruminating his way into the family fortune, BJ, as he has been known since childhood, has just £200 to his name. He now has no definite place in a flitt' between friends' sofas and budget hotels. His only possessions are a rucksack of clothes and an Apple notebook with a 27-inch screen that he lugs around under his arm. Having slept rough in a 20-year-old Nissan Micra for many months, the Travelodges in Suffolk and a Berkshire M4 service station have been recent haunts, until price hikes forced him to leave.

In the first King's Speech in the House of Lords this morning, Charles, 74, met with MPs and peers. He was the first British monarch to speak to MPs and peers in the House of Lords. He was joined by his wife Queen Camilla, 76, and his sister Princess Anne, 73, who reprised her role as Gold-Stick-in-Waiting, which she appeared at the Coronation in May. However, the Princess Royal was not the only heir to the monarch's lineage. Several pages of Honour, including the one on his throne, served in the same way at the Coronation in London. Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Nicholas Barclay, Ralph Tollemache, Ralph Tollemache, and Charles van Cutsem were charged with the job, while schoolboys wearing traditional uniforms.

Mike Yarwood, the king of millions, was on Saturday Night... but he was out of control at home. His children share the espionage and depression that destroyed his marriage and career

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 21, 2023
Mike Yarwood was known as the'man of a thousand famous faces.' He knew exactly how to imitate Harold Wilson's Yorkshire accent, and did an uncanny Bob Monkhouse smirk, nailed Bruce Forsyth's demeanor. Prince Charles's impression was so good that Diana told him she 'laughed until she cried' at one of his Royal Variety Performance sketches. And his television shows were so popular that they earned a record 21.4 million viewers on 1977 Christmas Day. Two little blonde girls, however, had no idea of the glamors of their father's fame back home in Bredbury, Cheshire. Mike, who died last month at the age of 82, was simply 'dad'.
