The kingpins from all three sides of golf's civil war are reportedly set to come together at St Andrews this week in what could prove a pivotal moment for the sport's future. PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan and Yasir Al-Rumayyan - the governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, which bankrolls LIV Golf - are expected to play in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, according to The Telegraph. More than a dozen rebels - including Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka and Tyrrell Hatton - are also set to tee it up alongside the likes of Rory McIlroy in the DP World Tour event that sees amateurs taking on professionals.

Rory McIlroy is set to team up with Scottie Scheffler against the LIV pair of Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau in a match that brings golf's festering civil war to the course. The idea to pit the best of the rival circuits against one another has regularly been mooted across the past year and has now been scheduled in a made-for-television showdown in Las Vegas in December. Brooks Koepka bizarrely held an interview with a reporter over text after refusing to speak with the media after his first round at the US Open on Thursday. On the 10th tee of the final round of the PGA Championship, Bryson DeChambeau captured the hearts of the golf world. An older man reached in front of a young kid and snatched the ball DeChambeau had tossed to him. DeChambeau immediately halted, backtracked and confronted the man. On the eve of this week's tournament in Kentucky, the 27-year-old announced in a heartfelt post on Instagram that he and wife Meredith - whom he married back in 2020 - have welcomed their first child together.  After missing the Wells Fargo Championship at the weekend, Scheffler said he told his son it was hard to leave him but he needed to.  And after only one round away from baby Bennett, the new father is already trying to justify his absence to his newborn with an opening four-under 67.

A glum-looking Rory McIlroy stepped out for a practice round at Valhalla on Wednesday ahead of the PGA Championship - a day after news emerged that he had filed for divorce from his wife Erica Stoll. McIlroy, who was also spotted practicing on Tuesday, attracted a big crowd and dutifully signed autographs despite his personal hardships. The Northern Irishman was also seen with his business manager Sean O'Flaherty on Wednesday.

Scottie Scheffler has confirmed the birth of his first child, a boy called Bennett, with a heartfelt post on Instagram. Golf's World No 1 uploaded a picture of the child on Monday night and tagged his wife Meredith in the post. He wrote: 'Welcome to the world little one. Your mom and dad love you so much.' 

Brooks Koepka celebrated his most recent victory on LIV Golf with wife Jena Sims and their adorable son Crew in Singapore.  The American, one of the big names on the Saudi-backed breakaway circuit, finished 15-under to claim his fourth victory on the tour.  Koepka managed to hold off the challenges of Australian duo Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith, finishing two strokes clear.
