Christian Benteke (left), the United States' youngest signing, as well as fellow Designated Player Carlos Vela, Javier Hernandez, Gonzalo Hiri, and Xherdan Shaqiri, must be on hand to impress him. What links all of them? Having participated in the Premier League, the most competitive and prestigious in the world. And Benteke has scored more than 45 of the 4,535 players in the tournament's 30-year history. Eden Hazard, Fernando Torres, Carlos Tevez, Eric Cantona, Luis Suarez, and a certain Mr. David Beckham have all set goals there, with none less than legendary Dutchman Dennis Bergkamp. So Benteke, who has been signed to Crystal Palace, has extensive experience and a solid goalscoring pedigree (inset) at the top level. However, at 31, his best years are behind him, and Palace isn't all about straightforward sailing, with a string of niggly injuries and years of frustration and goal droughts. With Benteke leaving the Eagles as the third-choice striker, it's certainly a gamble for Wayne Rooney's DC United, but perhaps now is the right time to take a chance on the signing (right). Sportsmail examines whether Benteke will be a success in the US capital and explores whether he is the one to turn the Black-and-Reds' season around.
After a shocking video shows him arresting a pregnant woman at gunpoint, a Florida deputy resigned

After going from Gainesville to Jacksonville late Friday, Ebony Washington was pulled over by Bradford County Sheriff's Office deputy Jason DeSue. The officer had arrested Washington, who is four months pregnant, for speeding, but the mother of three children later admitted to going 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. The run-in, on the other hand, was far from a normal traffic stop, with the cop pointing to the woman immediately after pulling her over, saying that the mother had taken too long to stop. DeSue would then proceed to threaten Washington, reminding her that if she moved, it would be her last mistake you'll make.' The encounter was so dramatic that Washington begged her terrified children to record it on a cellphone, a video that later caught the deputy's risings after the family posted it on social media. The office continued to distance themselves from the deputy after deeming his conduct 'unacceptable' and having 'accepted his resignation,' despite releasing the video over the weekend.' DeSue was a two-year soldier with the department, and police said they had never had issues with him before. They also stated that the ex-deputy's conduct was not racist motivated, considering that Washington is African-American.
Tightening to get a no-look behind the head on the winning drive despite being in his first high school game

Loganville high school coach Brad Smith had almost run out of options with the score tied at 39-all against Monroe Area and his team facing 3rd-and-long at the 13-yard line. Smith referred to the play as a 'joking game to get the kids excited at the end of practice,' in the hopes that a receiver would somehow follow the ball's flight and snatch it out of a intercept. And that's exactly what happened. Loganville went on to score on the next play before halting Monroe Area's last offensive effort to kick off the season with a landslide.
