Boney James Life

Boney James (born James Oppenheim on September 1, 1961) is an American saxophonist, guitarist, and record producer. Boney James is a four-time Grammy Award nominee (Best Pop Instrumental Album, 2001, 2004, 2004, and 2009) as well as a runner of the Soul Train Award (Best Jazz Album 1998). In addition, he has been recognized with two NAACP Image Award nominations for Best Jazz Album. * James has sold more than three million albums and has four RIAA Gold Records. James was named one of the top Billboard Contemporary Jazz Artists of the Decade in 2009 by Billboard Magazine. "Let's make it absolutely clear: James is not a smooth jazz player," the Boston Globe says. Yes, he is often associated with Kenny G and Najee, but his music is characterized as bouncing across the stage like a blacktop hero draining treys on an overmatched opponent. He even weaved his way into the audience, never missing a beat and certainly not encouraging the audience not to have a good time.
