Benny Johnson Career

Career

In 2010, Johnson began contributing opinion pieces to the opinion website Breitbart. He was recruited as a full-time employee for Glenn Beck's TheBlaze, a conservative media website. Johnson joined BuzzFeed in 2012 as a staff writer.

BuzzFeed found 41 instances of plagiarism in Johnson's scripts in July 2014, accounting for over ten percent of his work. He was fired from BuzzFeed later and apologised for the plagiarism. He joined National Review as the digital editor a few weeks later.

He joined the Independent Journal Review (IJR) in 2015 as a creative content contributor, a few months after being hired by National Review. Later this year, IJR workers accused Johnson of plagiarizing an article about then-House Republican Conference chairwoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers. Johnson wrote an essay in late 2017 detailing the most inflammatory tweets of what he believed to be the Boston antifa Twitter account. It was a bogus account that was supposed to ridicule antifa. Initially, an editorial note was attached to the paper, but it was later removed.

After Johnson's appearance in an article that stated that Judge Derrick Watson's partial blocking of Executive Order 13780 was connected to former President Barack Obama's visit to Hawaii, Johnson was suspended by the IJR in 2017. Johnson had been warned that the IJR may possibly be supporting a conspiracy theory, but the reporter was still attached to it. Johnson was suspended for breaching IJR's corporate ethics later this year; Business Insider revealed that Johnson had been verbally offensive and pushed several employees away from the IJR due to his leadership style. In October 2017, Johnson and IJR's relationship was ended.

In November 2017, Johnson joined The Daily Caller.

NFL star's wife sparks liberal meltdown after sharing pro-Trump post

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 10, 2024
The wife of NFL quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has sparked a liberal meltdown after sharing a positive social media post about Donald Trump.  'President Trump is housing 275 Florida linemen free of charge at his Doral Miami resort ahead of hurricane Milton's landfall,' read the original X post from conservative YouTuber Benny Johnson. 'My President.' 'Linemen,' in this case, has nothing to with football, but rather the utility workers who helped prepare the region for this week's historic storm - which has caused catastrophic damage in Florida.

Bill Ackman tweets then deletes wild claim about Trump assassination

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 21, 2024
Billionaire Bill Ackman tweeted a wild claim about the attempted assassination of Trump but quickly removed the post within less than 10 minutes of sharing it. The investor pushed a theory that there was a second shooter at the scene who fired off at least two shots. The claim came from a video making waves on the internet, which found tow bullets had audio signatures not consistent with the other six.
