Experts reveal if you should buy or sell a house before the election - and you'll be very surprised by their answers
www.dailymail.co.uk,
May 27, 2024
Typically in the run-up to a general election property buyers and sellers sit on their hands. The market gets stunned into stagnation and estate agents might as well take a month or two off. But with only six weeks to go, this snap election has caught everyone by surprise. There are short odds on a change of government so a far bigger question hovers over anyone ready to make a move: should they hold fire now until September - or push ahead? One reason to strike while the iron is hot - or rather the garden is looking its loveliest - is that the spring market has sprung into action late this year and there's only half a school term before everyone jets off on their holidays so won't be scouring for a new home.
Are they running from responsibility? Owners of 'overcrowded' nursery where nine-month-old Genevieve Meehan was killed have quit their £1million Cheshire mansion for France and haven't been heard from since, locals say

Those who visited Tiny Toes nursery in Cheadle Hulme were no doubt reassured by the 'safe, stimulating and, above all, caring environment' promised by the Cheshire nursery's website; not to mention that its grandly titled 'Creator of Early Years Education' had been awarded a 'knighthood for services to education in France'. Then there was the fact that Tiny Toes clients included a BBC journalist whose young son attended the nursery. A video filmed at the BBC Breakfast studio in Manchester and proudly posted on the nursery website in 2019 showed presenters including Carol Kirkwood, Nina Warhurst and Ben Thompson, greeting the Tiny Toes children from the famous sofa with 'a special hello' to camera. Another happy parent, writing a glowing review, thanked the nursery's 59-year-old owner, former amateur racing driver Franck Pelle (left-right), for his 'sales pitch' which 'persuaded us', adding that it was 'a great decision' to send their daughter there. But this week, as one of Mr Pelle's most senior members of staff (bottom right) was jailed for 14 years for the manslaughter of a baby girl (right) in his nursery's care, neither he nor his 66-year-old wife Karen (left), a co-owner of the business, were anywhere to be seen or heard.

Jon, 54, and Sally Nugent - who has been on display in almost a decade - have hosted the show since January 2023. Last week, fans were left confused after Ben Thompson greeted Sally rather than Jon. However, the beloved host has confirmed that he was in fact on holiday with his family in Cornwall - but that the father-of-three sunshine was not on the agenda. Jon wrote a carousel of photos from the trip on Saturday, saying: 'Bleddy good few days in Cornwall.' It's so great just to be able to visit for family fun after years of being a journalist.'

www.dailymail.co.uk,
March 20, 2024
Headline CPI dropped to 3.4 percent in February, down from 4 percent in January and much better than the 3.5 percent analysts had predicted. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt predicted that the cut would leave him ample time for more tax cuts until the fall general election. With forecasts that inflation will return to the Bank of England's 2 percent target shortly, the news has also fuelled rumors that interest rates will start to decline imminently. Mortgage-payers are eagerly waiting for Threadneedle Street's latest decision, although few anticipate any change from 5.25 percent this month.
