News about Ben Johnson
In an age cursed by online porn, the sight of semi-naked Team GB divers selling subscriptions on OnlyFans is a shocking example to set, writes JONATHAN McEVOY

Sorry to disabuse you, but on Friday the Olympic oath will be sworn on the Seine and a lot of fingers should be crossed behind backs. The wording reads: 'In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic Games, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them, committing ourselves to a sport without doping and without drugs, in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory of sport and honour of our team.' Scales have long fallen from our eyes. Ben Johnson's horror in winning the 100 metres gold in Seoul and being found to be drugged to his toenails played a part in that. I remember, too, going to interview Tyson Gay in Florida when he was precisely what he didn't want to be: the world's second fastest man.

Adam Schefter of ESPN has been spooked by self-described ex-favor and fellow NFL insider Mike Florio for exposing Detroit Lions assistant Ben Johnson's "spooked some teams."
www.dailymail.co.uk,
February 2, 2024
Adam Schefter is being accused of irresponsible reporting by his fellow NFL insider Mike Florio, who went on to announce that he is no longer friends with the ESPN reporter. Florio of Pro Football Talkdown called out Schefter over a tweet concerning Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, a head-coaching contender in Washington, before Dan Quinn accepted the job earlier this week. Johnson had dropped out of contention for a head-coaching position in favour of staying in Detroit for at least the next season. However, according to a Schefter tweet on Tuesday, 'Ben Johnson was not the head-coaching lock that people expected, and his asking price spooked some teams.' Florio slammed Schefter for failing to give Johnson a chance to defend himself on Chicago's 670.

After Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson decided to stay with the team, Detroit native and legendary rapper Eminem joked that he'stop recording his diss track.' Johnson had been dubbed one of the best candidates in this year's coaching academy, and many had hoped for him to land one of the remaining two head coach openings this year. The 37-year-old OC had been considered one of the top candidates for the Washington Commanders job specifically this year, and he was heavily linked with the Carolina Panthers last offseason.
In our bar, we don't use the word Australia Day. And we're not alone (even though no one has voted to change the date)
www.dailymail.co.uk,
January 16, 2024
Several popular pubs and bars are hosting parties on Thursday, ahead of Australia Day on January 26. In recent years, there has been a dramatic change in the way some venues refer to the public holiday, given the uproar surrounding the date and demands from First Nations people for it to be changed. For those venues, rather than Australia Day parties, the day of celebration is simply marked as Public Holiday. On January 25, the Lord Gladstone of Chippendale, Sydney's inner city, is hosting an event titled The Gladdy's Public Holiday Eve Blow Out.
Dan Campbell has turned the Detroit Lions into mighty slayers who play in five franchises at 5-1 atop the NFL, but the ultimate test will be taken on Sunday in Baltimore
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 19, 2023
Dan Campbell was probably correct all along. Campbell, the newly appointed Detroit Lions head coach in January 2021, gave one of the most memorable introductory press conferences. 'Here's what I do know is that this team will take on the city's brand.' Also, this neighborhood has been down, and it has found a way to get up. The gruff, bearded Campbell, said the gruff, at 6ft 5in a former Lions tight end, has found a way to beat adversity.' This team is going to be built on: We're going to punch you in the teeth, and if you punch us back, we're going to look at you, and if we knock us down, we're going to get up.' We're going to break a kneecap on the way up.' Stirring stuff. And it was so easy to mock. After all, the Lions were the Lions. Clums and non-starters are synonymous with Detroit, Michigan.
David Moyes, the West Ham manager, slammed the 'unfair' decision to stage his team's match against Luton on the transfer deadline day
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 31, 2023
David Moyes and West Ham are outraged that they meet Luton on transfer deadline day, leaving them with the improbable possibility that one of their players will be sold while playing at Kenilworth Road. West Ham is in a fight against time to find a striker before the 11 p.m. cut-off, but Pablo Fornals, Danny Ings, Maxwel Cornet, and Ben Johnson are among the eleventh-hour bids this evening. As he has for every other match this season, Moyes wants to name the quartet in his squad. West Ham's fixture list gave them four away trips out of their first six games, with their only two at home against Chelsea and Manchester City.

Revealed: Father's tragic note telling neighbours that his home had been ransacked by burglars - shortly before he was 'murdered by dognappers who stole his labradoodle'
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 25, 2023
In a sad note a father's house had been ransacked by burglars shortly before he was reported to have been murdered by dognappers, he wished his neighbors' "all the best for 2023." The evil crooks took Donald 'Prentice' Patience's designer labradoodle after it was deliberately 'targeted,' according to police, as it came to learn his house had been raided months before. Previously, robbers robbed his brother's Mercedes C-Class and used it to delete other items from his house, including his child's pit bike and several televisions. A video chair and his hoover were also stolen from the house: the homeless father told locals: 'I recently returned to my house to find that all my possession had been stolen.'
According to police, the pet owner was murdered by dognappers who took his labradoodles from his labradoodle's deliberately, as it was revealed that he was also a victim of a break-in months before
www.dailymail.co.uk,

Prentice' Patience was discovered dead in his house on Tuesday morning after burglars broke into it and snatched his beloved pet, Layla. Since releasing a 27-year-old man and a 41-year-old man on bail pending further inquiries, investigators are questioning a 39-year-old man on suspicion of murder. It was revealed today that the 45-year-father-of-three had been the perpetrator of a recent break-in just months before, when robbers sacked his humble end-of-terrace house in Radcliffe, Manchester. Mr Patience, who was praised by his family as a 'incredible' father, had returned home last December to discover several televisions, a child's bicycle, and his brother's vehicle had been stolen. Mr Patience (right) sent the details to his neighbors in January, a letter that has not been seen by MailOnline.

'I know we won a few games last year, but if you're looking for the playoffs bad,' he said.

January 21, 2023
A nine-year-old boy who rolled his ankle after roller blading has been diagnosed with a very rare condition that patients often refer to as'suicide disease,' because it makes them wish they were dead (Ben pictured before the injury, left, and right now). After suffering the injury, Ben Johnson, 9, of Melbourne, developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), the pain continued to get worse. It came to the point where Ben was unable to touch the ground, he couldn't tolerate water touching it, and a windy day felt like 'daggers' going into his lower leg.' Both his parents and doctors have begged Ben to amputate his leg to ease his pain, but he has told his mother and father that he 'wants to die' because the pain is so extreme (inset: his legs).

In light of this, Sportsmail examines each Premier League team, sees what they're passionate about, and where they can improve in January.

Before deciding to play against the Vikings, the Detroit Lions coach was too absorbed with the fans' wave
www.dailymail.co.uk,
December 15, 2022
Dan Campbell, the Detroit Lions' head coach, has said he was so preoccupied with watching the fans' Mexican wave at the end of Sunday's match against the Minnesota Vikings that he didn't even know he had decided to create a play centered around right tackle Penei Sewell. Last week, the Lions, who have now won three out of their last four games, defeated the Vikings 23-34 to keep their playoff hopes alive. By four games, Detroit has risen to second place in the NFC North and trail division leaders, Minnesota. With only two timeouts remaining on the clock and only with less than two minutes to spare, the Vikings were able to gain the victory on Sunday.

SPECIAL REPORT BY RIATH AL-SAMARRAI: Just like the big right hand that came before it, there's a doubt that causes confusion in Chris van Heerden's mind. Every day, a round and round goes, salting an old wound with new suspicions. It has been this way for the thick end of a fortnight now. He finds himself drifting back to that night in April, at Manchester Arena, where this former champion fancied his chance against a buzzed name. He remembers it all. He can recall the warmth of the first session and the subsequent feeling on his stool that indicated that he'd give it another three days to relax the nerves before increasing the heat.
Aaron Cresswell and Craig Dawson could be forced to cancel out of the Conference League due to a plastic pitch issue
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 14, 2022
David Moyes admits that Silkeborg's plastic pitch has given him a pick headache ahead of West Ham's Conference League match in Denmark. After spells that have been disabled, defender Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell have been in the team, but he would not risk them in Denmark on the 10,000-seater JYSK Park's superfast turf. We acknowledge that it's an artificial pitch and that we have some decisions to make,' the West Ham manager said. We'll have a look at Craig and Aaron and see what's best for them.'

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's approach from Crystal Palace and West Ham has 'turn down'
www.dailymail.co.uk,
August 29, 2022
Aaron Wan-Bissaka of West Ham and his former club Crystal Palace have turned down his calls. United did not intend to sell or loan the defender in this transfer window because doing so would bring in a replacement. So far in the Premier League this season, Wan-Bissaka has played just four minutes for United, with Diogo Dalot now the club's first-choice option at right-back.
