Beatrice Prentice Career

Later career

Prentice and Cornelia Otis Skinner appeared in Eleanor Robson Belmont's first dramatic effort in May 1923. In The Next Room was co-written with Harriet Ford. It was an adaptation of a Burton E. Stevenson short story in The Next Room. In Atlantic City, New Jersey, Winthrop Ames and Guthrie McClintic produced the performance.

On February 13, 1925, Prentice took the lead in the Garden School Alumnae Association's annual celebrations. The benefit benefit was held at the Ritz-Carlton in New York City and benefitted the Alice Chapin Adoption Nursery.

Following many years on the New York stage and tours of the Orient with the Frawley company, she opted for domestic life for many years in California. She returned to the theater in a Loving Ladies scripted by Margaret Mayo and Aubrey Kennedy for Arthur Freed. The Orange Grove Theater in Los Angeles, California, opened performances. With continuous action spanning a story that spanned three hours, the show kept us amused. Prentice was given the opportunity to create a motion picture collection of farces following the Orange Grove engagement. One studio had been confirmed to have made her an offer.

In Turandot, which opened at the Pasadena Playhouse in January 1927, she played the title role as a petite Chinese princess. Old China was one of a series of oriental characters she had portrayed. Only when she meets a lover who can solve her three riddles, she finds her cruel side as the protagonist. Prentice's costumes are charming. She performed the nautch dancer in Amber just a short time before.

Ruth Helen Davis produced Smilin Thru at the Belmont Theatre in Vermont and the First Street Playhouse in Los Angeles in March 1927. Prentice played Kathleen Dungannon and Moonyeen, opposite English actor Wyndham Standing. A critic praised Prentice for her radiant presence and skill in executing two roles and a difficult and emotional third act.

Beatrice Prentice died in Los Angeles on May 30, 1977, aged 92, from pneumonia.
