A former journeyman infielder and minor league instructor was killed in a Mississippi car crash on Saturday at 61. He had played for six teams between 1987 and 1995, but was perhaps best remembered as a minor league instructor in the Atlanta Braves organization, where he worked with future All-Star third baseman Austin Riley. Riley was awoken from his sleep Sunday morning with the news that one of the most influential people in his career had been killed.

Both men were arrested and identified after running on the field in Denver and tackling Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acua Jr. Jefferson Gonzales-Merida and Carlos Rivelo-Paiz, both from Denver, stormed Acua Jr. They have been charged with trespassing and disturbing the peace. After entering the field briefly, Denver police say a third individual, a young male whose name hasn't been released due to his age, was arrested for trespassing.

While boosting the Atlanta Braves to a 14-4 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Monday night, Ronald Acua Jr. fended off two fans, one of whom made contact with him in the right field. Acu's career highs with four hits and five RBI, as well as his 29th home run and stealing two bases to raise his major league-leading total to 61. He is one homer away from becoming the first 30/60 player. During the seventh inning, one fan raised his arms against Acua, just after Atlanta scored four runs to open a 9-4 lead. The unlucky fan, who tripped on Thursday, was given the normal five-second head start and appeared to be on track to win the 600-feet run at Truist Park before falling. As both athletes approached the finish line, the HIs trip came right after the Freeze caught him. In one of the season's most frustrating moments, the fan was just a few inches away from winning before he stumbled onto the ground and ate garbage.

After serving more than five years as permanent, former Atlanta Braves general manager John Coppolella has been reinstated by Major League Baseball. Coppolella, who is now 44, joined the Braves in 2006 when he oversaw quantitative research and baseball statistics. Following the 2015 season, he became general manager, but was suspended on Nov. 21, 2017, after MLB announced that the team violated international signing laws from 2015-17. MLB found that the Braves funneled additional signing bonus funds to five players in 2015-16 by first transferring the funds to another player who was deemed a foreign professional under baseball's laws and having the remaining five players divide the money to the other five players.
