Early life and education

Jahjaga served as the Kosovo Police Chief's Deputy Director and then briefly stepped in as acting General Director in 2010. While serving in the Kosovo Police, she attracted the attention of American officers and diplomats who appeared before US officials on several occasions as the representative of a new generation of Kosovar civil servants.
