Indonesian writer who is known for her novels and short stories. She is also known for being the founder of the Lingkar Pena Forum. She is best recognized for her published works Assalamualaikum, Beijing! and Heaven that is not longing and is also known for having been selected as one of 35 writers invited to attend the Iowa International Writing Program. 

Before Fame

She graduated from SMA 1 Budi Utomo in Jakarta where she studied in the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology. She published her first collection of stories in 1996 entitled Bestari. In 2009, she went on to found her own publishing company under the name Asma Nadia Publishing House. 

Trivia

She is known for having won first prize at the National Islamic Short Story Writing Contest held by Aninda Magazine in both 1994 and 1995.

Family Life

She married fellow writer Isa Alamsyah and together they had two children: Eva Maria Putri Salsabila and Adam Putra Firdaus.
