Anza Ohyama (born May 4, 1976), also known as Anza (stylized as ANZA), is a Japanese singer and actress who performed in Anza (born May 4, 1976).

She is best known as a vocalist with the Heavy Metal band Head Phones President and for appearing in thirteen separate musical performances.

Personal life

Anza was born in Cape Town, South Africa, to a White South African mother and a Japanese father. Anza was not fluent in the Japanese language and was mocked for her international presence when they moved to Nagasaki, Japan, in her youth, and was mocked because of her foreign appearance. Chiho Oyama, a younger sister who appeared in Sailor Moon musicals, has a younger sister named Chiho Oyama.

Anza started modeling in junior high school and was invited to shoot a commercial in Nagoya. She made her acting debut on Chagi Nikki's Chris Nikki at fifteen. She made her debut in 1992 as a member of the pop idol group Sakurakko Club and has released a number of singles with them. Momo and Ayako Morino, both of Sakurakko Club fame, were part of a spin-off duo called Momo. In 1993 and 1994, the pair released two singles.

With Anza's joining the Sailor Moon musicals in 1993, she appeared on the CDs for both solo and group performances. Sailor Moon's five-year career as a performer, the first five Memorial Album of the Musical, and three of the eight compilation albums that have been released since the musicals' inception.

Moon Lips, a group of actresses from Anza, performed vocals for the Sailor Moon anime's theme song "Moonlight Densetsu" in 1994. It was used for the show's third and fourth seasons, as Sailor Moon S and Sailor Moon Super S, respectively.

She dropped "Dream" under the Sony Music Entertainment Japan record label shortly after her graduation from the Sailor Moon musicals in 1998. The ending theme song for the TV show Famitsu Wave, "Dream," was also included. "Tobira wo Akete" (under Victor Entertainment), a single that was used as a theme song for the anime Cardcaptor Sakura, was released in April 1999. Anza performed vocals for "Ai wo Shizumeteru," the PlayStation game Psychic Force 2's closing theme song. In episode 68 of Cardcaptor Sakura, another of her songs, "Mienai Chizu," was used as an insert song.

Anza's music took a completely different direction in 1999. Hiro and Mar, who had previously assisted her with her solo duties, were among her Head Phones Presidents. They are a heavy metal band with occasional screamed vocals interspersed with soft melodic singing. Anza is often portrayed as being based on "vocals and images." They have referred to their music as "negative" due to their emotional reactions as a result of their traumatizing experiences, but [but] believe their music expresses their pain in a hopeful way. A lot of the lyrics are from Anza; the album "Alienblood" depicts her own struggles as a mixed race in Japan.

Toho performed four of its Les Misérables musicals live in 2003, and they released four double-disc albums (available only by special order from Toho). Anza appears on the light blue album with Kazutaka Ishii as Jean Valjean.

Anza was signed to Universal Music Japan in 2006 and released her debut single "Kanata e" as one of their Universal Music Japan. It was used as the second ending theme song for the anime Glass no Kantai.

She formed Vitamin-Q with Masami Tsuchiya, Kazuhiko Kato, Gota Yashiki, and Rei Ohara in late 2008. However, the corporation has since Kat's death on October 17, 2009, and has no longer existed.

In 2011, Anza opened "Raz -Rabbit," a clothing and accessories store in collaboration with Riho.

On May 1, 2011, Anza held a solo show in support of the 2011 Thoku earthquake and tsunami victims. SeraMyu, Gift, Les Misérables, Sera Myu, Gift, Les Misérables, SeraMyu, Migranty, Beyond music from solo career and participation of Iwana Misako (from SeraMyu), Manabu Oda (from musical Gift) and her band Head Phones President was on the program.

On December 24, 2011, Anza appeared on "Live & Cafe Bar Rocky" in Tokyo, Japan's sole show "Anza Xmas Live." Tomo (key), Hiro (guitar), Norio Yoshida (bass), Sakayama (percussion), and Maddie were among the special guests on the show. She performed Christmas songs dressed in Santa Claus costume in addition to the ones from the previous season.

Anza was featured on the Dragon Guardian's album "Unmei no Megami" in late 2012.

Since 2013, Anza has performed as a DJ sporadically, solo or with her bandmate Narumi.

Anza's sister, Kato Tomoko, HIRO, Sakamuru, and Haruka Masaru celebrated her 22 years in the show "Anza Solo Live" on May 24, 2014, in addition to special guests Okuyama Momoko, Iwana Misako (formerly Kotani Misako), Oda Manabu, Haruka (Rouse Garden) and Fujiwara Yuki. A small "ANZA BOOK" commemorating her 22-year career as a child, as well as a a new T-shirt created by Anza's collaboration brand RAZ, were on sale at the concert.

Head Phones President Joe is the genesis of the rock musical Stand in the World, written and directed by Shohei Hayashi, which appeared at the Tokyo Arts Center from June 11 to 13. During the performance starring Erika Yamakawa, Manabu Oda, and Hikari Ono, the band performed.

RAZ was in a physical store in Ikebukuro from November 10 to 20, 2016.

On December 2, 2016, Anza hosted "Anza Solo Live" on "New 8" in Kamata, Tokyo. In comparison to the performers Key_TOMO and Gt_HIRO, Iwana Misako appeared on the show. "ANZA Birthday Live" was held in Anza on May 4, 2017, with the same guests as the hosts, as well as additional guests, Oda Manabu.

She and Masami Tsuchiya, Kazuhiko Kata, Gota Yashiki, and Rei Ohara formed the rock band Vitamin-Q in late 2008. The organisation, however, has suspended operations following Kat's death on October 17, 2009.

Anza's "Raz -Rabbit" is a clothing and accessories store that opened in 2011 in collaboration with Riho.

Anza held a solo show on May 1, 2011, in favor of the 2011 Thoku earthquake and tsunami victims. "Anza's Box" was nominated at the show, SeraMyu, Gift, Les Misérables, the artist's debut, went beyond musical performances and her band's participation in Iwana Misako (from SeraMyu), Manabu Oda (from musical Gift), and her band Head Phones President, who performed in concerts SeraMyu.

On December 24, 2011, Anza appeared on "Live & Cafe Bar Rocky" in Tokyo, as the solo show "Anza Xmas Live" began.
