Why menopause is killing so many midlife marriages - and how you can fix it, by MARIELLA FROSTRUP
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 14, 2024
Recently (and light-heartedly) I asked my husband how he found me during menopause. I knew I had suffered as a result of my hormonal chaos, with two years of insomnia, stress and anxiety from the age of 49, but I was sure that I'd skilfully concealed the inner turmoil pretty well, and my family had been left unscathed. Turns out, those years weren't as emotionally straightforward for him as I'd thought!
The tantalising 'bear question' is electrifing the internet. I know the shocking reason why today's young men hate women - and women fear men, writes FRED KELLY

October 10, 2024
I had the pleasure of sitting next to Clara Gaspar in the Daily Mail's newsroom for the best part of a year. We learned each other's coffee orders, shared each other's coughs and colds - I'd go so far as to say we even became friends. So it came as a surprise when, in this newspaper, she announced she would sooner be caught alone in the woods with a grizzly bear than a man. Could it really be that every time she looked over at me, she'd rather see the razor-sharp gnashers of a wild beast? It turns out she isn't alone. Clara's article cites a remarkable YouGov poll claiming that more than half of 18 to 29-year-old women agree they would rather chance upon a bear than a male stranger if alone in a wood.
MAIL ON SUNDAY COMMENT: Now is not the time to weaken our defences against REAL terror
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 5, 2024
Trying to manage other people's minds and opinions is a tricky business, and free societies have generally steered away from it for the past few centuries. England's greatest monarch, Elizabeth I, declared she would not 'make windows into men's souls', during the era of ferocious religious disagreement between Catholics and Protestants. It remains one of the wisest things ever said by any political leader. If we wish to diverge from this historic common sense, we need good reasons to do so. Many will argue that the terrorist threat, hideously displayed in the London bombings of July 7, 2005, provide that reason. Such merciless carnage cried out for strong measures to ensure that it was not repeated - even measures that weakened our long traditions of freedom of speech and thought.
'Misogynist' schoolboys face terror unit probes despite damning report accusing Prevent, the body set up to combat Islamic extremism, of 'losing its focus'
www.dailymail.co.uk,
October 5, 2024
The Home Office is considering plans to allow teachers to report misogynistic comments to the government's Prevent programme, which was set up to combat Islamic extremists. Even comments about a 'woman's place being in the kitchen' could be enough to spark a referral to the unit, sources said last night. Critics say the move would dilute Prevent's work in deradicalising potential terrorists at a time of huge global tensions. The plan - which would place sexism on a par with Islamic extremism - was discussed in high-level meetings between Home Office and Prevent experts in recent weeks.

Businesswoman accused of sparking Southport riots by being first person to spread false name of suspected knifeman speaks out as police drop case
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 18, 2024
A businesswoman 'dragged from her home' and 'locked up for 36 hours' for allegedly spreading a false name for the Southport dance class knifeman spoke of her 'nightmare' today after being told she faced no further police action. Bernadette Spofforth, 55, was held on suspicion of stirring up racial hatred as part of a crackdown on those accused of whipping up tensions online following the shocking killing of three young girls at a Taylor Swift-themed event in July. False information that the suspect was 'an asylum seeker who came to the UK by boat last year and was on an MI6 watch list' spread rapidly around social media, with anti-immigration riots breaking out across the country. After being confronted last month at her £1.5million farmhouse in Cheshire by MailOnline as to why she was apparently the first person to publish the false name on X - formerly Twitter - the middle-aged sculptor's wife said she had done a 'really stupid thing' which had 'literally destroyed me'. Today she returned to social media to say that four weeks after police 'dragged me from my home and held me for 36 hours in a cell' she had been told she would face no further action.

Two-thirds of parents want their children to have a basic 'feature' mobile rather than a smartphone amid growing concerns over teenagers' access to disturbing content
www.dailymail.co.uk,
September 3, 2024
Two-thirds of parents would rather their children have a basic 'dumbphone' without access to apps than a smartphone, new data has revealed. Vodafone surveyed thousands of parents with children between the ages of 8-14 and found that 67 per cent of them preferred a mobile that could make and receive calls and texts, but prevented kids from surfing the web and accessing social media. Their concerns come from recent studies which have found links between phone use and poor mental health among children - including anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. This follows a BBC Panorama last night on the issue saw one teenager claim social media companies' algorithms are feeding youngsters with harmful and violent misogynistic content.
