Bournemouth made the most of two refereeing decisions going in their favour as they dispatched a flat Arsenal side, who had hoped to surge to the top of the table. The away side predictably hogged the ball in the opening stages but Andoni Iraola's men looked the more threatening, competing fiercely out of possession and when David Raya gifted the ball to the opposition, Antoine Semenyo wasted a handy chance. Then, with the game moving along at a tepid pace, the pivotal moment - a reckless William Saliba tackle on Evanilson as the Brazilian looked to race through on goal. Referee Rob Jones gave it a yellow but VAR sent him over to the monitor and there was no escaping a sending off. Arsenal tried not to let the decision break their stride and a few minutes later two summer signings making their first starts of the season linked up for a good chance.

The international break is here once more to bring a halt to what has been a pulsating opening to the Premier League campaign. It's fair to say all 20 teams have endured varying degrees of success in the first two months - but here, Mail Sport have compiled report cards for each of the teams after seven matches of top-flight action.

Bournemouth defender Julian Araujo has been hailed after joining supporters in the pub to celebrate their derby win over Southampton. The Cherries eased to a 3-1 in the South Coast derby on Monday night, with Andoni Iraola's side producing a dominant display. Goals from Evanilson, Dango Outtara and Antoine Semenyo saw Bournemouth led 3-0 at half-time at the Vitality Stadium.

DOMINIC KING AT ANFIELD: Liverpool soared to the top of the table as three first-half goals saw the Reds cruise past Bournemouth. The Cherries took an aggressive approach in the opening exchanges and were made to pay for their naivety with Luis Diaz scoring twice in two destructive minutes. Darwin Nunez then put the game beyond reach after just 37 minutes with an excellent finish into the bottom left corner.

KIERAN GILL AT THE VITALITY STADIUM: Chelsea kit man Ricky Dowling may not thank Enzo Maresca for telling his team he does not want to see a single one of their white away shirts unsullied, but the visitors did as they were told. They proceeded to get down and dirty here, Maresca apparently informing his players he was disappointed none of their jerseys required washing after a passive first half. He was appalled by their lack of fight. Chelsea played with more attitude in the second half, and the 91st-minute caution of Joao Felix meant a Premier League record was set as 14 yellow cards were shown in total. Both teams will be fined £25,000.

KIERAN GILL: Chelsea were shown eight yellows to their opponents' six as referee Anthony Taylor angered both sets of supporters by showing such an addiction to soft cautions at the Vitality Stadium. The total of 14 bookings and that number does not even include the other cards shown to coaching staff, including Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca. Joao Felix was the last player to be booked in the 91st minute for catching Alex Scott.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW BY KATHRYN BATTE: During a tour of Athletic Bilbao's headquarters earlier this year, I asked a member of the club's staff why so many managers have emerged from Spain's Basque region. The answer? 'They are obsessed with football.' Julen Lopetegui, who grew up a short drive from the hometowns of fellow Premier League bosses Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery and Andoni Iraola, is clearly no different. Quiet moments over a cup of coffee are usually enjoyed his office at West Ham's Rush Green training ground, where the leftovers of his birthday cake are still on the side, given his schedule since moving to London in July. There has been little time to explore the sights and sounds of the capital.

KATHRYN BATTE AT LONDON STADIUM: Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola blasted officials after a second handball controversy in four days saw his team dumped out of the League Cup. The Cherries had wasted several opportunities to score before Jarrod Bowen's 88th minute winner handed Julen Lopetegui a late birthday present, but replays showed the ball hit the forward's elbow before hitting the back of the net. With VAR not in use at this stage of the competition, the goal was not able to be overturned. It comes days after VAR controversially disallowed Dango Ouattara's winning goal for handball against Newcastle.

Kepa would sign an extension with Chelsea on reduced terms prior to moving on loan. The stopper, who spent last season at LaLiga champions Real Madrid, has attracted interest from several clubs, including Saudi sides, this summer. Chelsea are ready to offload him but with his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, he would first need to renew his deal before leaving. Andoni Iraola's Cherries are open to strengthening between the sticks with Kepa now set to provide competition for club captain and current No 1 Neto.

CRAIG HOPE AT THE VITALITY STADIUM: Andoni Iraola blasted the VAR decision to disallow Dango Ouattara's stoppage-time goal for what the Premier League called a 'factual handball', with the Bournemouth boss adamant the ball had hit his shoulder. It looked like the Cherries were about to nick a 2-1 win against Newcastle when substitute Ouattara met Lewis Cook's corner in the 93rd minute and turned in from six yards. However, without being sent to his pitchside monitor, referee David Coote was instructed to disallow the goal by Stockley Park. 'It's the most frustrated I've been on a touchline,' said Iraola after the 1-1 draw. 'I went to talk to the referee, but I think the referee cannot do much more. He gave the goal. They didn't give him the chance to see it again. He's not the one who made a mistake today.

CRAIG HOPE AT THE VITALITY STADIUM - BOURNEMOUTH 1-1 NEWCASTLE: He was wearing a jumper so could not make his point about short sleeves as clearly he would have liked, but as Andoni Iraola jabbed his upper arm repeatedly, you wondered if he was about to be done with it and just punch himself in the face, such was his frustration. Indeed, the Bournemouth boss thought his team had landed a knockout blow when, with the bell about to sound, substitute Dango Ouattara turned in from a corner in the third minute of injury-time. On first viewing, you had no idea which part of his upper body the ball had come off before flying beyond Nick Pope . Even on second viewing, it was unclear. His shoulder was the most likely.

TARA ANSON-WALSH AT THE CITY GROUND: The sight of Semenyo skying a shot into the upper tiers of the Bridgford Stand typified the frailties of a team without their 'best player'. That is how Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola described Solanke, who joined Tottenham for £65million a week before the season opener. Although Semenyo redeemed himself by equalising in the 86th minute, the Cherries lacked the attacking potency that last season's top scorer Solanke provided.

Mail Sport understands that Bournemouth will no longer pursue any move for Nketiah should they sign the Brazilian.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has said Dominic Solanke's impending exit will be 'a big miss' for the club, as the striker joins Tottenham Hotspur in a club-record deal. Only earlier in the day had Iraola confirmed talks between the two clubs had taken place, but it's been confirmed the 26-year-old will be signing to Spurs in a deal worth £65million, plus add-ons. The striker was contracted to Vitality Stadium until 2029 but Tottenham have released the hefty release clause to bring him north London, representing a club-record transfer for both clubs.

The South Coast club agreed a fee just short of £13m rising to £15m for the 6ft 5ins centre back who was on loan at Roma last season. Stuttgart and Wolfsburg also made moves for the Dutch-born Spain U21 international but he is keen to work with Andoni Iraola and play in the Premier League . The 19-year-old began his career at Costa United before moving to Malaga in 2015. He joined the Italian giants in 2018 and eventfully made his debut against AC Milan in October.

SAMI MOKBEL: Mail Sport exclusively disclosed on Monday morning the Spaniard (bottom left) had agreed a new deal with the Vitality Stadium outfit following successful talks in recent weeks. And the club officially confirmed the news at midday, with Iraola penning terms that expire at the end of the 2025/26 campaign. Iraola signed a two year deal when he joined last summer following his arrival from Rayo Vallecano. After a tricky start, the Spanish coach has overseen an excellent season with the Cherries and had started to attract interest from a number of rival clubs heading into the summer.

As the loose ball dropped inside the penalty area, Solanke moved into Raya's path and looked to pressure him while the stopper tried to punch away. Cherries boss Andoni Iraola was incensed (bottom right) but his appeals fell on deaf ears.
