Since winning a four-lap shootout, Byron won his biggest victory of his career in the 'Great American Race'. He and Bowman finished in 1-2 for Hendrick Motorsports. With nine laps remaining in Florida, Byron climbed to second place at the restart.

Anderson appears to have decided to try and get out through the window, but he only manages to get out before being crushed against the tire wall. The wall's jolt brings the American driver out of the window, where he lands on top of the tires before crashing behind his car.
