Sebastian Vettel may have won four world titles, but JONATHAN McEVOY writes why the former Red Bull and Ferrari star should NOT replace Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes

Sebastian Vettel's deeds stand for themselves, according to JONATHAN McEVOY. Alain Prost has won as many championships as he has. - four. Only Juan Manuel Fangio (five) and the seven-time wonders of this world have gathered more than the great Argentine, Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher. Vettel is ranked in the top of the most coveted drivers ever recorded. I like Seb because it's personal. When he first landed on the Formula One circuit, I was first introduced to him. At BMW Sauber's motorhome, a colleague and I were having dinner, and he came scamping over. A devotee of English humour, not least of Only Fools and Horses, was amused by a new word he hadn't heard: 'kerfuffle.'
After Sergio Perez's crash out in the first lap, Max Verstappen becomes the first driver to win 16 races in a season

JONATHAN MCEVOY IN MEXICO CITY: It was 14 seconds, one corner, and incalculable inches - the discrepancies that told the tale of a one-horse season. Max Verstappen, who was on third place in the Mexican Grand Prix, it was a case of threading his Red Bull through the eye of two Ferraris for the lead. Sergio Perez, the world champion's teammate, was the first corner to be his last. On the long, 900-yard drag into the first bend from fifth on the grid, the home hero soared to the front of the pack chasing 200 miles per hour, but it was not promising - so far, so promising - but I managed to turn in too early and catch Charles Leclerc's red-for-danger sedan.
After Max Verstappen's lap was DELETED for exceeding track limits, Charles Leclerc takes pole position in the US Grand Prix, with Lando Norris second and Lewis Hamilton in third

Max Verstappen's attempt to win the US Grand Prix for the 50th time was derailed when his pole lap was suspended for over track limits. At the start of the nip-and-tuck session outside Austin, the Dutchman, who won his third title in a row a year ago, is aiming to become the fifth driver to notch a second. Michael Schumacher (91), Sebastian Vettel (53), and Alain Prost (51) led the way by five-thousanths of a second. At Turn 19, he had run wide.
Alain Prost admits to being "saddened and distraught" by the team's uprising at Alpine, but insists that Laurent Rossi, the team's fired CEO, was "incompetent" and "lacked humanity."

Alain Prost has slammed Renault-owned Alpine, alleging that former CEO Laurent Rossi was incompetent and lacks humanity. Before his resignation was revealed, the four-time champion was a director with the Alpine F1 team until 2021.

Despite charges of Red Bull breaching cost-cap, Max Verstappen concentrated on the Japanese Grand Prix

Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Damon Senna, Michael Schumacher, Mika Hakkinen, and Sebastian Vettel are among the many names on the roll call. At Suzuka, the three champions are unbeaten. With victory and the fastest lap on tomorrow, Max Verstappen (inset) knows he will ink his name on the page. Not that he wishes to believe it. Verstappen has been dour since switching Singapore for Japan. In the midst of rumors of a cost-cap violation, persistent questions about Red Bull's accounts have irked him. When being quizzed on them this week, the curt reply was, 'It's not my company.'

Max Verstappen's home win at Circuit Zandvoort on Sunday was another spectacular twist in the F1 season. After yet another strong showing, the Red Bull driver won his fourth victory in a row, but that wasn't the only big talking point from the weekend. Sportmail looks at all the best bits from a brave pigeon standing amidst the screaming cars to Sebastian Vettel's heart-warming meeting with Ukrainian refugees before the race.
Daniel Ricciardo has a Chance to compete in Alpine, Haas, or even Williams, and even Williams has an Indy Car bid on the table

Ricciardo's departure was hardly surprising, in fact. Several media outlets had forecast that the 33-year-old's resignation would take some time, with Oscar Piastri casting an alarming shadow over his position, and even veteran's most ardent supporters acknowledge that his results haven't been up to par. Although many foresee Piastri's future, Ricciardo's next steps seem to be all the more uncertain. Ricciardo's pedigree will unquestionably be of concern to some teams lower down the grid, but a look at his 2022 record makes for no compelling argument for the Aussie.
