The mother of a British beautician accused of smuggling 43 kilos of cocaine into the US has insisted she is innocent and will be released from jail to reveal the truth. Kim Hall (left), 28, went to Mexico to collect two suitcases packed with cocaine and flew them into Chicago 's O'Hare airport where she was apprehended by Homeland Security. But as damning as the evidence seems, Kim's family believe in her innocence and say she is guilty of nothing more than being 'stupid and naive.' In tearful phone calls from prison, she explained that she thought she was carrying cash from real estate deals and had no idea the cases contained drugs. Although she is languishing in brutal Cook County Jail, Illinois , her mother Tracy (right) is confident she will be vindicated.

The 47-year-old man had initially been charged with blackmail in relation to his illegal jail cell enterprise, which he denied. Instead he pleaded guilty to evasion of £3,080 income tax. A judge said the charging decision was an 'interesting' approach which may not have been seen in this country before and likened it to the famous Al Capone takedown. Harker was due to be sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday but left the building during a break in the hearing. A warrant has subsequently been issued for his arrest.
