www.dailymail.co.uk, October 5, 2024
Aaron Ramsdale made an emotional return to his former club on Saturday when he turned out for Southampton in their Premier League game at Arsenal. The 26-year-old - who played 89 times for the Gunners before leaving to join the Saints in a £25million deal in August - was in tears during the warm-up. Ramsdale then made three saves against his old side but that was not enough to stop Southampton falling to a 3-1 defeat. Arsenal fans chanted Ramsdale's name towards the end of Saturday's match. After the final whistle, Ramsdale was then seen exchanging words with Arteta and David Raya.

ISAAN KHAN AT THE EMIRATES: Though, it helps when a player such as Saka is in your side. He picked up his cape and whirled into action, providing two assists and striking a goal, too, in a superhero-like display, downing the valiant Saints. That is now seven assists in seven Premier League matches - the most by any player in Europe's top five leagues. Incredible. On 58 minutes, Saka dispossessed Flynn Downes to play Kai Havertz through; he struck the ball just inside the box past Aaron Ramsdale, scraping the left post on the way in.

ISAAN KHAN AT THE EMIRATES: Arsenal fought back from behind to beat Southampton and stay within touching distance of the Premier League top spot. Cameron Archer had fired the Saints into the lead on 55 minutes after cutting back onto his right boot and finding the bottom corner with aplomb. But it took just three minutes for the hosts to respond, Kai Havertz tucking beyond Aaron Ramsdale to chalk up his seventh goal in a row at home. Gabriel Martinelli completed the turnaround after touching in at the back post while Bukayo Saka added a third with a superb finish two minutes from time. Aaron Ramsdale breaks down in tears as Arsenal fans welcome their former No 1 goalkeeper back to the Emirates with a warm reception ahead of clash with Southampton

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 5, 2024
The goalkeeper joined Southampton on a permanent £25million deal during the summer, bringing his three-year stay in north London to an end. Ramsdale made 89 appearances in total for the Gunners but left in search of more game time after falling behind David Raya in Mikel Arteta's pecking order. However, he remains a favourite at his former club and the stopper was unable to hold back the waterworks during the warm-ups ahead of kick-off.

Mikel Arteta suggests that he will look to confuse Aaron Ramsdale with set-piece plans as former Arsenal goalkeeper returns to Emirates Stadium with Southampton

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 4, 2024
ISAAN KHAN: Mikel Arteta quipped he will play mind games with Aaron Ramsdale in a bid to confuse him on Arsenal's set-piece plans as he returns to the Emirates with Southampton on Saturday. The goalkeeper left the Gunners over the summer in a four-year deal worth up to £25million, having largely occupied the bench after losing his starting spot to David Raya near the start of last season. The 26-year-old spent three years with the north London club and was named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year for the 2022-23 season after helping Arsenal to the cusp of the title.

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 4, 2024
Aaron Ramsdale has revealed one thing that really bothered him as he lost his place to David Raya in the Arsenal team last season. The Ramsdale-Raya situation was one of the major talking points over the first few months of the 20-23-24 campaign following the Spaniard's arrival from Brentford.  Raya came in and quickly deposed England international Ramsdale, who'd been named in the PFA Team of the Year the previous season and didn't do much wrong as Arsenal challenged for the title.

BRENTFORD 3-1 SOUTHAMPTON - DOMINIC HOGAN AT THE GTECH COMMUNITY STADIUM: Aaron Ramsdale suffered a nightmare debut for Southampton as Brentford thrashed the newly-promoted side. The brilliant Bryan Mbeumo struck twice either side of the break, both times punishing Southampton's wayward passing out the back, before Yoane Wissa pounced on a Ramsdale mistake to make it 3-0 on 69 minutes. Yukinari Sugawara's consolation goal in added time was just reward for his fine work but the muted celebrations spoke volumes.

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 30, 2024
Aaron Ramsdale was unveiled as Southampton's latest summer signing while dressing up as Hagrid from the Harry Potter movies.  Rather hilariously, the former Arsenal goalkeeper was spotted wearing a Hagrid costume during Southampton's play-off final victory against Leeds last season.  The goalkeeper subsequently revealed he had donned the outfit as he went to Wembley to cheer on winger David Brooks, on loan at Saints at the time. The pair are close friends and it is their tradition to attend the play-offs in fancy dress, should one of their friends make it to play under the arch.

Ramsdale, 26, has made 89 appearances for the Gunners since joining from Sheffield United in 2021 for an initial £24million fee. The Englishman impressed across his first two seasons at the Emirates, but following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford at the start of the 2023-24 campaign, Ramsdale lost his spot in the team, which has led to much speculation surrounding his future.

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 16, 2024
Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya is the 2/1 favourite with Sky Bet to win the Premier League's Golden Glove award in 2024-25. Gunners manager Mikel Arteta made headlines last season when he dropped established keeper Aaron Ramsdale for Raya, but the Spaniard's role in Arsenal's title push proved it was the right move. Raya was fantastic for the north London club - registering 16 clean sheets and conceding just 24 goals en route to winning the Golden Glove.

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 14, 2024
SIMON JONES: David Raya has long established himself as the No 1 shot stopper at the Emirates under Mikel Arteta, displacing Ramsdale last season after joining on loan from Brentford. Raya has now joined permanently and that position is showing no signs of changing, leading to Ramsdale likely needing to look for a new club if he is to enjoy regular first team football again. Ajax had a request to take Ramsdale on loan rebuffed but are weighing up a new offer.
