Rosie Marcel Life

Rosie Ellen Celine Marcel (born 6 May 1977) is an English actress.

She was born in Roehampton, London.

Marcel is best known for her appearance in the BBC drama series Holby City as Jac Naylor, a cardiothoracic surgeon, although she has also appeared in sister show Casualty.

She is also the niece and sister of writer and actress Kelly Marcel.

Personal life

Lindsey Brook was an actress and her father, Terry Marcel, was a television producer; they divorced in 1995. Kelly, her older sister, has appeared in both Holby City and The Bill, but she is best known as the writer and executive producer of Terra Nova's television series. Luke, their younger brother, is also a member of the 'The Little One's.'

Marcel was diagnosed with endometriosis at 20 years old, and it was also discovered she had a blood clotting disorder: "I was bleeding for about four months before I went to the hospital for an emergency blood transfusion." The doctors told me I'd almost died, but further investigations revealed that I had a blood clotting disorder, the female form of haemophilia." Behçet's disease, an inflammatory disease in which the white blood cells attack healthy cells, caused more problems six years later.

The disease kept her almost bed-bound for two years before she was spotted by an immunologist at St Bartholomew's Hospital in London, who treated the disease and put her on immunoglobulins. Marcel was unable to walk unaided for nearly twelve months during the two years, instead relying on two walking sticks. Marcel said of his illness, "I have liver function and blood tests every three months." I'm highly likely that I'll die before Scott, but I'm getting to terms with it. It's worth it not to go back to the hell I was in for two years. If left untreated, Behçet's disease can affect your lungs, heart, and blood vessels, so without the immuno-suppressants, I may not be here today. Marcel was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2008, which had progressed to her pelvis, and she underwent laser therapy to destroy the cancerous cells while filming in Holby City.

Marcel has a black belt in karate, which she spoke about when she said she would like to be a stunt woman: "I'd love doing stunts." When I was 17 years old, I went to a stuntman's ball with my dad, and I've been fascinated ever since. I'm a black-belt in karate, and I adore water-skiing. I also love bungee jumping, which I might also use to good effect. "I'm tougher than I seem."

Ben Stacey, the Barcelona gym owner, married Marcel in March 2013. Rosie announced her pregnancy in August 2014, but they found out about two days before starting IVF therapy after months of trying to conceive and suffering a miscarriage. The miscarriage occurred only after she had finished filming the scenes in which her onscreen character, Jac Naylor, gave birth to. She then revealed that she was pregnant with a baby girl. On January 21, 2015, she gave birth to her first child. The baby, Beau, was born via caesarian section due to Marcel's unusual clotting disorder (known as storage pool disease).
