Career

Marcel claims she comes from a "dramatic" family, and she performed her first job as a fairy in A Midsummer Nights Dream at the National Theatre at the age of three. Marcel was named in the BBC's Annual Report for 2016 as one of the country's highest-paid actors, earning her a weekly salary for her appearance in Holby City ranging from £200,000 to £249,000, making her the highest-paid actor on the series. The show brought Marcel's name forward for BAFTA consideration for her role in a 2019 storyline, but she did not get a nomination. She announced her departure from the show in January 2021 after 16 years in the role. However, she returned four months later. Marcell was named Best Drama Artist at the Inside Soap Awards in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
