Meek Mill Life

Robert Rihmeek Williams (born May 6, 1987), also known as Meek Mill, is an American rapper, singer, and activist.

Born and raised in Philadelphia, he began his musical career as a battle rapper and later formed The Bloodhoundz, a short-lived rap group.

T.I., a Atlanta-based rapper, died in 2008 and was released as T.I. Meek Mill has been signed to his first-ever contract.

Mill signed with Maybach Music Group, a Miami-based rapper, after leaving Grand Hustle Records in February 2011.

Dreams and Nightmares, Mill's debut album, was released in 2012 under MMG and Warner Bros Records.

The album, preceded by the lead single "Amen" (featuring Drake), debuted at number two on the United States. Billboard is 200. Mill announced the debut of Dream Chasers Records, a label based on his mixtape collection, in October 2012.

Meek Mill regularly collaborates with colleagues from MMG's Self Made compilation collection, with his first two singles, "Tupac Back" and "Ima Boss," being included on volume one.

Dreams Worth More Than Money released in 2015, and Wins & Losses, his third album, in 2016.

Championships, his fourth studio album, was announced in November 2018 and debuted on the Billboard 200 at number one.

"Going Bad" (featuring Drake) was its lead single and debuted at number 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. He was sentenced to two to four years in jail for breaching parole in November 2017 and five months at the State Correctional Institution in Chester, Pennsylvania, before being released while his appeal continues.

Amazon's Prime Video published a documentary series about his struggle with the criminal justice system in August 2019.

Mill appeared on the series as the executive producer.

Early life

Robert Rihmeek Williams was born in South Philadelphia, the son of Kathy Williams. Nasheema Williams, his older sister, is his niece. Kathy grew up in poverty, and her mother died when she was young. Meek's father was killed when Meek was five years old, evidently during an attempted robbery. Meek Mill's father, according to his uncle, Robert, was a "black sheep of the family." Kathy and her brother and his sister moved to North Philadelphia, where they lived in a three-bedroom apartment on Berks Street after her husband's death. They were poor, and they began to cut hair, doing other jobs, and shoplifting to help their families. Meek was shy and rarely spoke at home. He became acquainted with another of his father's brothers, who was under the MC name Grandmaster Nell, in the late 1980s Philadelphia hip-hop scene, and inspired rap artists Will Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff. Meek's interest in hip-hop arose as a result of these early influences. Chic Raw and Vodka, who he learned to imitate by watching their DVDs, also inspired him.

Meek often participated in rap battles under the alias Meek Millz in his early teens. He often stayed up until midnight, filling notebooks with words and verses that he later discovered. Later, he and three colleagues formed The Bloodhoundz, a rap group. At Kinkos, they bought blank CDs and jewelry boxes, urging people to burn them with the group's songs and then sell them.

Personal life

Following his release from a three-to-six month jail term for probation offense on December 2, 2014, Mill began dating rapper and singer Nicki Minaj; he accompanied her as an opening act on her 2015 world tour. Mill and Minaj announced on January 2, 2017, that they had ended their two-year relationship. Minaj's 2017 album "Regent in Your Tears" is more detailed. Mill was involved in a verbal altercation with Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, before being led out of the store. Mill and Minaj's conversation culminated in a Twitter exchange, highlighting a string of harassment charges by both sides.

There are three children at Mill. Milan Rouge, Mill's then-girlfriend, gave birth to his third child and first on the rapper's 33rd birthday in 2020.

Career

The Bloodhoundz were able to produce four mixtapes for a long time. Mill's fourth solo mixtape, Flamers 2: Hottest in the City, which inspired the commercial singles "I'm So Fly," "Prolli," and "Hottest in the City," was released in 2008. Charles "Charlie Mack" Alston, the founder and president of 215 Aphilly Printed Records, caught Flamers 2's attention. Mack, who appeared for other Philadelphians Will Smith, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Boyz II Men, and Ms. Jade, was so impressed with Mill that he immediately hired him to his management firm. Meek Mill also met the maker and owner of Grand Hustle Records, Atlanta-based rapper and record executive T.I. T.I. However, a setback occurred when Mill was sentenced to a stint in jail for a drug and gun offense.

Mill began performing as an artist under Grand Hustle's control in 2009 and developed a close friendship with DJ Drama, the label's resident disc jockey. Mill and Drama have joined up to publish the third volume of Mill's Flamers story. Flamers 3: The Wait Is Over was announced on March 12, 2010, and it is dominated as a "Gangsta Grillz mixtape." The mixtape features his commercial single "Rosé Red," which was later remixed with additional verses from fellow American rappers T.I., Rick Ross, and Vado. After visiting Philadelphia and asking his Twitter followers who he should collaborate with, Rick Ross wrote the majority of the responses; Meek Mill was the most popular response. Mr. Philadelphia, Mill's next mixtape, had the remix included on his mixtape. T.I. and Mill are the primary reasons. Mill was never able to produce an official album under Grand Hustle's tenure in 2010, but they parted ways in 2010. Streets, a film from the previous year, was released. Meek Mill was the "#7 hottest MC" on MTV's annual "Hottest MCs in the Game" list in February 2012. Mill unveiled the second installment of his Dreamchasers series on May 7, 2012. Dreamchasers 2 was downloaded 1.5 million times within six hours of its debut on mixtape website DatPiff.com. Meek Mill has joined Roc Nation management, according to Meek Mill.

"Amen" - originally on Dreamchasers 2, was released as the lead single from Mill's debut studio album on June 19, 2012. Mill received co-signs from both Mariah Carey and Nas on his debut studio album Dreams & Nightmares, as well as the former's "Get 'Em") from Carey. "He's the next one to get this shit over." The album was released on October 30, 2012. With first-week sales of 165,000 copies, the album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart. The album also sold 41,000 more copies in its second week, dropping six positions on the charts to number eight.

Dreamchasers 3 was Mill's third installment of the Dreamchasers story. Among other things, the mixtape featured guest appearances from Rick Ross, Akon, Future, Waka Flocka Flame, Wale, Trina, and Jadakiss. On May 6, 2013, the mixtape was supposed to be released. However, he had already announced that it would be delayed, and that it would be announced on September 29, 2013. Mill revealed in November 2013 that he was half-way finished with his second studio album. Mill revealed on March 8, 2014 that the album will be called Dreams Worth More Than Money. Dreams Worth More Than Money, Mill's album that was released on June 28, 2015, topped the Billboard 200 as of the issue, which was dated July 18, 2015.

Meek Mill also posted 6 videos on Instagram previewing his mixtape, DC4. The mixtape was supposed to include a remix of Drake's "Back to Back" and a remix of Drake and Future's "I'm the Plug," but unfortunately, none of these two remixes made it to the final cut due to DC4's commercial success. Meek Mill's extended play, 4/4, dropped songs on January 16, 2016, with four tracks. Meek Mill also earned a second extended play title on January 30, 2016, Pt. 2.

Wins & Losses, Mill's third studio album, debuted on July 21, 2017.

Mill's fourth album, Championships, was released on November 16, 2018. The album received critical feedback and debuted atop the US Billboard 200 in its first week, selling 229,000 album-equivalent units in its first week (42,000 from pure sales).

Mill's "Otherside of America" became a hit during anti-George Floyd's assassination of George Floyd in June 2020.

Meek returned to a four-track EP on November 20, 2020, starring rappers 42 Dugg, Vory, and Lil Durk, who also appears in the track's video for the song "Pain Away." Meek said in October 2020 that he intends to have an album before the year's end. However, this was not the case, as his fifth studio album, Extend Pain, was only released a year later, on October 1, 2021. After collecting 95,000 equivalent units, it debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. Mill went on to state that Atlantic Records was to blame for the album's poor sales, and that he and his comrades, fellow Philadelphian Lil Uzi Vert, and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.

Mill announced on July 11, 2022, that he had ended his management contract with Jay-Z's Roc Nation Entertainment, implying that although he and the company are no longer associates in the exact term, he and Jay are still on good terms. Despite his departure, the two men are still working on their prison reform project, the REFORM Alliance.
