Her first big role was in 2008's CJ7, which attracted her media interest and launched her acting career.

Personal life

In 2011, Zhang Yuqi and Wang Quan'an had a whirlwind romance, and the two were married on April 18th this year. On July 2, 2015, Zhang and his wife announced that they were divorced.

Early life and career

Zhang was born in Dezhou, Shandong province. At the age of 15, she left Shandong to attend acting school in Shanghai.

Zhang appeared in The Longest Night, a small, uncredited film from 2007. Stephen Chow first noticed her in a Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial and recruited her into his organization. Zhang received gruesome acting, dancing, and singing lessons. She made her debut in the science fiction film CJ7 as a young tutor. Zhang was one of the "" (xn láng, "star girls") or "Sing girls" in Chow's tradition, and she gained a lot of buzz on television, and she has been dubbed one of the "" (xn láng, "star girls" or "Sing girls"—Sing Yeh is a common nickname for Chow's).

Zhang appeared in the Japanese film Shaolin Girl after CJ7 (which was also produced by Chow). Chow considered casting her in Dragonball Evolution, but the role was ultimately handed over to another actor.

Zhang appeared in the romantic comedy All About Women portraying a headstrong business woman. In Jump, a Stephen Fung-directed musical comedy written by Stephen Chow and penned by Stephen Chow, she played a country girl with a passion for hip-hop music in 2009.

Variety praised Zhang for "letting herself go" despite her bitchiness and prey sex appeal. The Mermaid was the most successful film of all time, and Zhang's waning film career was revived.

Zhang appeared in the Wong Jing-directed fantasy comedy The Golden Monk in 2017. She appeared in Chen Kaige's fantasy mystery film Legend of the Demon Cat the same year. Zhang received the Best Supporting Actress award at the Asian Film Awards for her role.
