Zaraah Clover Abrahams (born 7 January 1987) is an English actor and voice over artist.
Joanne Jackson, a contestant in the third series of the ITV talent show Coronation Street from 2005–07, is best known for her appearance in Michaela White's BBC school drama Waterloo Road from 2007–10 and returning as a contestant in the last series of the ITV talent competition Dancing on Ice, as a contestant for the second series in 2014.
Early life
Abrahams was born in a London hospital of Iraqi and Barbadian descent on her mother's side and in a Jamaican descent on her father's side. She grew up in Brixton, South London, and is the eldest of three siblings. She attended the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts for her secondary education, landing the role of Magda in Jacqueline Wilson's Girls in Love, while still a student. After landing the role of Joanne Jackson in Coronation Street at the age of 17, she left London to pursue a career in acting in Manchester.
Career
Abrahams appeared in Girls in Love on CITV and as Joanne Jackson in the ITV soap Coronation Street. Michaela White, a student, appeared on Waterloo Road in 2008 in a recurring role as a student. In 2009, the character appeared in the fourth series as a member of the core cast and remained with the show until her departure in 2010 at the end of the fifth series. She appeared in the short film Black Girl in Paris on HBO, which was nominated for best short film of the year and where Spike Lee first appeared.
