From a heartfelt carol tribute to the late Queen to a duet at the King's Coronation Concert: Inside the Royal Family's enduring bond with leading soul musician - as he releases single to inspire Team GB at the Olympics

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 26, 2024
Alexis Ffrench is the classical soul composer who captivated the heart of the nation during the King's Coronation weekend. And now he is back with a new single to inspire Team GB at the 2024 Olympics. The 54-year-old hopes his morale-boosting anthem, Soar, will become the team's official song for motivation. As the country gears up for the Games, Alexis reflected on his enduring bond with the Palace and the high stakes of being entrusted with some of the Royal Family 's most impactful moments. Just two months after the death of Queen Elizabeth, he was chosen to perform on a piano emblazoned with images of the late monarch at Kate Middleton's annual Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey (inset). Speaking to MailOnline, he described the performance as 'incredibly moving', to the point where he struggled to 'hold it together'. And then at the Coronation Concert (left) in the grounds of Windsor Castle last year, Alexis had his crowning moment when he performed a duet with singer-songwriter Zak Abel.

Charles the royal raver? For the Coronation concert, DJ Pete Tong announces that King ordered Ibiza hits

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 7, 2023
The BBC Radio 1 DJ, who has been tasked with delivering the King's wishes at the event on Sunday evening, has expressed concern that it will be a "brilliant" way to begin the show in Windsor Castle's grounds. Tong said, 'He wanted Ibiza classics,' he told the PA news agency backstage.' 'We asked us to recommend a couple of songs and we suggested three or four, but one of them, and that's the one that's starting the performance, so they clearly had a hand in what we wanted to see.' When asked why he thought this was one of the playlist requests, he replied, "I think they want to showcase a large number of UK talent, target different demographics, and be relevant to various age groups."
