Life and career
Yuliya Snigir was born in Donskoy, Tula Oblast, Russian SFSR, Yuliya Snigir. She graduated from Donskoy's high school number 20. She went to Moscow and joined the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, aiming for a good education (English department, specialization "English Philology").
To protect herself financially, Snigir had to both study and work at the same time. When a friend showed photographs of Yuliya to a representative of a Moscow modeling company, she was teaching English in the nursery school. Snigir was a popular model when continuing her education at University. She had been offered a job with a well-known French jewelry company and was planning to relocate to France when a casting-director discovered her at the modeling agency and invited her to an audition. When she was accepted to the Vakhtangov Theatre Academy, her acting career began. The actress' cinematic debut was in the film The Last Slaughter, which was followed by Vaccine and Gloss.
She made her big break when she was given one of the leading roles in the Russian sci-fi blockbuster The Inhabited Island (2008) and Skirmish's sequel, Inhabited Island. Yulia, the Russian actress, became the face of L'Oréal in Russia, as well as Mexx clothing and Mexx perfume.
