Yas Life

Yaser Bakhtiari (Persian: Born 1982 in Rezvanshahr, Gilan province, Iran) better known as Yas (), is an Iranian rapper. He wears a Faravahar pendant, a symbol of Iranian nationalism and Zoroastrianism. Yas was named Artist of the Week by the people in MTV IGGY Entitled Tehran's Hard-Hitting MC on December 21, 2011.

Yas is one of the founders of Persian rap, and he became the first Iranian rapper to be allowed by the Islamic Republic to perform in Iran in 2013.

Early life

At the age of 16, Yas first started listening to rap music and was heavily inspired by them. He was suddenly faced with the challenge of being the primary caregiver of his family, with his father's debts to pay. Yas was forced to abandon his college aspirations and instead focus on his entire family. He started writing poetry that soon became lyrics for his songs at this time.

Yas Career

Music career

After the 2003 Bam earthquake, Yas began his work. It was then that he wrote his first song, "Bam," after being devastated by the disaster. This was the start of his rapping career. CD Ro Beshkan, a 2006 album by Yashkin, which was written about actress Zahra Amir Ebrahimi of Iran who was the subject of a Sex scandal tape. The scandal brought her career to an end. In the song, Yas blames the individuals for her death, and she has pleaded for others to avoid broadcasting her remorse and removing the video from their computers and cellphones. The song was listened to and downloaded by millions of people in Iran alone.

In June 2008, Yas made a song called Hoviate Man [my identity] describing his Iranian roots and a mention of the controversial 300 film. (Understand me), Yas in 2008 produced and wrote "Darkam Kon" a song. Yas' music was a resistance to the government and for hunger and those who are unable to find jobs.

As a student, who suffered from a fire in addition to poverty and misery, Yas made a song called "Az Chi Begam" in May 2011 (What Can I Say) which is a resistance song for those schoolchildren who were subjected to violence and poverty, as well as their fellow countrymen. In this case, Yas' negligence in providing substandard facilities in the Doroudzan village's school fire caused eight 7-year-old schoolchildren to be killed.

He became Iran's first rapper to perform. In 2014, Yas decided to collaborate with Tech N9ne. The two are the first rappers from Iran and the United States to perform together musically. Their single was titled "The Sound of Unity" and was released alongside a Music video.
