Will Forte Life

Orville Willis Forte IV (born June 17, 1970) is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer.

He has appeared on Saturday Night Live as a cast member as well as the creator and star of the sitcom The Last Man on Earth.

Forte shifted his career path to comedy after receiving a history degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, and becoming a financial broker like his father, The Groundlings. He soon discovered he loved writing and spent time on That '70s Show before auditioning for Saturday Night Live (SNL).

He joined SNL in 2002 and spent eight years as a cast member on the program, where he did offbeat sketches.

His most well-known role on the show, MacGruber (2010), a film adaptation that came before his departure from the programme.

Before appearing in the drama film Nebraska (2013), Forte appeared in various comedies.

Forte appeared, wrote, and starred in The Last Man on Earth, a television sitcom that aired on Fox from 2015 to 2018.

He was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards for his role as well as writing for the series.

Early life

Orville Willis Forte IV was born in Alameda, California, on June 17, 1970, the son of artist and former schoolteacher Patricia C. (née Stivers) and financial broker Orville Willis "Reb" Forte III. He was born in Moraga before heading to Lafayette at age 13. In his early years, he went by "Billy" as a boy's name, before being teased at school for it being a girl's name. At that point, he decided "Will" would go from there. Forte has referred to himself as a "very joyful little boy" whose parents were "wonderful" and created a "very loving environment." He was interested in comedy from a young age, rising up idolizing comedians Peter Sellers, David Letterman, and Steve Martin, as well as the sketch-comedy television series Saturday Night Live. He played pranks on his parents and would film himself performing imaginary radio shows. He didn't set out to be a comedian, but he did not intend to be a footballer, and instead hoped to be a footballer.

Forte, "a laid-back teen with a lot of friends" and a member of the varsity football and swimming teams at Acalanes High School, from which he graduated in 1988. He was named "Best Personality" by his graduating class and served as the freshman class president. He had no aspirations for a television or film career, but his mother noticed a "creative streak" in him. He obtained a degree in history after high school at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and obtained a degree in history. He began working as a financial broker at Smith Barney Shearson in Beverly Hills, but the experience was "miserable" there, although he planned to continue his father. While there, he co-wrote a feature-length script, and later said that writing "more than [he] had ever done in [his] life" — more than ever." During his time as a student, he was encouraged to try comedy, but he wanted to change his career path in order to do so.

Personal life

Forte lives in Santa Monica, California. He purchased his home there just two weeks before joining Saturday Night Live, which required him to move to New York City and later admitted that "it wasn't the right time." In 2015, he dated his co-star January Jones on Earth. He became engaged to Olivia Modling, whom he first met in 2018. They have a daughter who was born in February 2021. Modling and He was married on July 31, 2021, Modling's second wedding anniversary.

Forte's mother has visited every film set on which he has worked and performed on a Mother's Day episode of SNL in which he sang a song to her on Weekend Update. He also officiated his sister Michelle's wedding and filmed the birth of his niece and nephew.

Forte has discussed and humbly referred to his OCD tendencies. He recalled that he listened to only one song in his SNL office for a year because he wanted to challenge himself. In an interview with Larry King, he talked about his OCD as a challenge he had to tackle but not one he regretted having because it was a part of his personality. Forte said OCD frequently in a February 2015 feature about him and his book The Last Man on Earth, although Forte's writer explained how he and a former girlfriend completed an OCD questionnaire and concluded that Forte "should immediately talk to someone about this."

Will Forte Career

Career

Forte, an experimental and sketch comedy troupe and school, is now offering classes, while tutoring students will finish meet. 102 Things to Do If You Want to Get a Chick, Forte's first hit comedy was 101 Things to Do if You Want to Get a Chick, a comic book he wrote about incompetent males. He accepted his first writing assignment for The Jenny McCarthy Show, a short-lived variety show starring Jenny McCarthy. He was asked to submit a packet with David Letterman shortly after, and was told Letterman responded positively to animation. He was "let go" from work after only nine months with Letterman. He described his writing experience as uncomfortable, claiming that he did not have enough experience. "It's an honor to work at that show, but I don't think I was fully prepared." [...] I always wonder what it would be like if I had a few years of experience before going to college."

Forte returned to Los Angeles and began performing with the Groundlings' Main Company, including Cheryl Hines, Jim Rash, and Maya Rudolph. He attempted stand-up comedy three times, many at open mic nights, but he voted out after being accepted into the Main Company. He was one of two failed sitcoms, including The Army Show and Action. Forte has writing for 3rd Rock from the Sun and That '70s Show. Besides playing with the Groundlings, he loved writing and had mostly given up on acting. Lorne Michaels, the creator of Saturday Night Live (SNL), noticed him while performing with the troupe in 2001. Forte's confidence was higher than normal, as The '70s Showcase's Show had been on display for two more years. He was invited to audition for SNL, which he described as unexpected.

Tim Calhoun, a speed reader, a prison guard, and prison guard at his audition for SNL, in comparison to impressions of singer Michael McDonald and actor Martin Sheen. His final piece, which depicts a gold-painted street performer who performs fellinio, to pay for his face paint, devolves into a song chanting the words "cock" and "face paint" hundreds of times. He thought his time as a performer was over, as he was in his thirties when he auditioned. To his surprise, he was invited to be on the show but declined, instead focusing on the financial stability of his work at That '70s Show. He felt working on SNL could not be the idealized version he had imagined, but then realized he was missing a huge mistake.

Forte joined the cast after Will Ferrell retired from Saturday Night Live the following spring, the show's twentieth-eighth season was underway. After his first year, he was promoted to repertory player. Stage fright and an inability to properly interpret sketches that he did not write himself gave him his early years on the program. After years as a writer, he had to "re-learn" how to do, and later realized that his natural tendency to "overthink" things improved his results. He was particularly uncomfortable portraying President George W. Bush as he felt he wasn't the best impressionist, and it paled in comparison to Ferrell's impersonation of Bush. Bush's only role was to date, leaving him with no opportunity for more "absurd" items he adored. Following his third season (2004-2005), he was virtually fired from the program, but he was let go after two three-week extensions to determine his fate. Forte said it took him five years for him to feel fully at home on the program. In 80 Days, he made his film debut in Around the World.

Forte's humour at SNL has been described as bizarre, and he became well-known for several "10-to-1" sketches, which were considered odd and placed at the end of the show. Among these was a sketch titled "Potato Chip," in which Forte warns a candidate (Jason Sudeikis) not to touch a bowl of potato chips on his desk, or turn as Jeff Montgomery, a sex offender dressed as a sex offender for Halloween. Tim Calhoun, Greg Stink, and the Falcon are among his many famous characters. Forte's favorite sketch on the show was one in which he appeared as a motivational coach alongside footballer Peyton Manning. In the first SNL Digital Short, "Lettuce," he co-starred with Andy Samberg. He often spent long hours designing his sketches for the program, missing deadlines, but his pieces were often welcomed warmly at table reads. He co-starred in and wrote the 2007 film The Brothers Solomon, a tyrant who appeared on the program for the first time. The film was first a pilot for Carsey-Werner, and its development was a continuation of his contract to appear on SNL.

MacGruber, a special operations agent sent with the task of deactivating a ticking bomb in each episode, is distracted by personal problems, but Forte's most popular character on SNL was MacGruber, a special operations agent who is tasked with deactivating a ticking bomb in each episode. The sketches were based on the television show MacGyver. It was created by writer Jorma Taccone, who pitched the scheme adamantly to Forte. He was initially reluctant to sign up to the sketch, deeming it too stupid, but after Taccone's persistence, he accepted. In January 2007, the first sketch premiered in January 2007, sparking numerous more segments in the years. The sketches were turned into a series of commercials financed by Pepsi premiership during Super Bowl XLIII, which starred Richard Dean Anderson as MacGruber's father. The advertisements boosted the character and sketches' resurgence. Lorne Michaels, a writer and editor, approached Forte, Taccone, and writer John Solomon with the desire to produce a MacGruber film following the success of the advertisements.

Forte shared, "Looking back, the experience is something I'll never forget." I still miss it, and I'll certainly miss it. "It's my family." George W. Bush, Tom DeLay, John Edwards, Timothy Geithner, Newt Gingrich, Chad Lowe, Zell Miller, David Petraeus, Brian Williams, and Hu Jintao were among his celebrity appearances.

MacGruber spent four weeks in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on a tight schedule in the summer of 2009. It was written while simultaneously promoting the weekly episode of SNL, and the show's production process left the trio deprived of sleep. Forte was optimistic about the film, saying, "Ite is a person who speaks for herself."

In May 2010, the film was released in May 2010 and received mixed feedback. After the third week, it fared worse at the box office, where it failed to recover its funding and was barred from theaters. "If you make something you are really proud of and it doesn't do well, you can live with it." Forte described the failing as "if you make something you are really proud of and it doesn't do well." Since being dubbed a cult classic, the film has received more positive feedback.

Forte went to Saturday Night Live shortly before the show's thirty-sixth season in 2010. Given his eight-year service, his introduction to MacGruber, and his age, he felt it was the "right time to go." In addition,, his sister had just had children and wanted to move to the West Coast to be closer to them. He quickly regretted the decision, declaring the following year a "emotionally difficult period" in the aftermath as he was "devastated" that he would no longer be on the service. He believed his film career had been doomed, and he hoped that if acting didn't go well, he would return to writing primarily. Following this, he embarked on what he describes as a "lost period" and had small supporting roles, such as Rock of Ages, That's My Boy, and The Watch, all of which were not fruitful. Grown Ups 2, where he made a cameo as a male cheerleader, was the only commercially lucrative film on which he worked. He appeared on the critically acclaimed sitcom 30 Rock as Paul L'astnamé, Jenna Maroney's cross-dressing boyfriend.

Forte appeared in Run & Jump, his first dramatic role. Steph Green offered him the role, and Forte thought it was a "fun thing to try," although she had more faith in him than he did. Later, he gave Alexander Payne an audition tape for a role in his next film, Nebraska. He related his casting in the film to his apprehension of joining SNL a decade ago, boasting that he was "terrified" to get to work on it. He was afraid at first, but Bruce Dern's acting advice to "look for the truth" in each scene, he said. "You're just trying to do it as realistic and as realistic as you can."

In 2013, Forte joined The Last Man on Earth, a sitcom, with longtime collaborators Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Though it was the duo's idea, Forte adhered to the idea of designing a treatment over a weekend. The film was shot around Hollywood to encouraging responses, and Fox picked it up in 2014 to be a part of the Hollywood Community. For the first season, Forte appears as the series's designer, a writer, the lead role, and showrunner. He found it odd being in charge of the company's writing staff (composed of long-time colleagues) and was uncomfortable with delegating tasks, to the extent that he'll end up doing the writing himself. "I never knew there was such a lot of work," he said, requiring him to work a "minimum of 12 hours" a day. The series premiered in 2015 to overwhelmingly positive feedback and was renewed for the next three seasons.

In the comedy Keanu, starring Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key, Forte played Hulka, a low-level weed dealer. In the Netflix biographical film A Futile and Stupid Gesture, Doug Kenney appeared as National Lampoon magazine co-founder and writer Doug Kenney in 2018. Domhnall Gleeson appears as co-founder Henry Beard in the film, which was also directed by David Wain. Shaggy Rogers was the voice in the Scooby-Doo film Scoob!

Forte appeared in Sweet Tooth and reprised his role as MacGruber in a Peacock TV series. Forte will play Coach Dan in Disney and Pixar's first full length series Win or lose, which will premiere on Disney+ in late 2022.
