Wesley Taylor (born August 13, 1986) is an American stage actor and writer best known for his appearances in musical theatre and television.
Personal life
Taylor was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and raised in Orlando, Florida. He and his parents lived in China once, where they taught at a university: "I"m not sure that they're going to come and watch the programs I'm in." I'm always jealous of other people's families. My parents, on the other hand, are wonderful and I utterly love them. They didn't want to be bored in middle age, and they didn't want to start over and move to a different place."
Taylor graduated from Dr. Phillips High School's theatre magnet and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from North Carolina School of the Arts. In Henry IV, Part 1 and Part 2 of the West Side Story, Taylor appeared as Falstaff.
Taylor is openly gay. When Taylor was visiting his alma mater North Carolina School of the Arts, where Powell was a junior in the school's theatre program, Taylor met Isaac Cole Powell in 2016. The two women began dating in 2017 and were engaged in May 2019. In 2021, the couple's union came to an end.
Theatre career
Taylor appeared in Barrington Stage Company's production of the musical See Rock City and Other Destinations in summer 2008. The show was named on the Richard Rodgers and Jerry Bock Awards. Taylor appeared in Rock of Ages, where he played Franz, the German city developer. He received an Outer Critics Circle Award for his work in this role and was shortlisted for the Outer Critics Circle Award.
Lucas Beineke, Wednesday's love interest in the musical The Addams Family, his second major role on Broadway, came as he appeared in the 2009 Chicago production of the show. Taylor appeared alongside Krysta Rodriguez, who appeared on Wednesday Addams, Lucas' love interest, and premiered on Broadway in April 2010. He resigned from the position on March 8, 2011.
Taylor appeared alongside Lauren Molina in a reading for a stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray penned by playwright Michael Raver on March 7, 2011. The concert, Broadway Tribute, took place in Northport, Long Island, on April 2, 2011. Taylor, Erin Davie, Ann Harada, Kendrick Jones, and Burke Moses performed the tribute.
