Film career
Bottle Rocket (1996), Anderson's first film, based on a short film of the same name that he made with Luke and Owen Wilson, was released. It was a murder caper involving a group of teenage Texans aspiring to become major heists. It was well researched but the box office did a poor job.
Rushmore (1998), a strange film starring Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Olivia Williams, was his next film. It was a time of tense and financial prosperity.
