Wednesday 13 Career

Career

Poole's musical career began in 1992 when he performed guitar in Mizery, which later became Psycho Opera, with Abby Normal (guitar), Jeff Washam (drums), Michael Patrick (bass guitar), and Todd Cage (lead vocals). Poole left the band to form Maniac Spider Trash as the lead vocalist on Normal (guitar) and Patrick (bass guitar), later joined by Sicko Zero on drums. From 1992 to 1996, Poole fronted the band from 1992 to 1996. On Dead Hell Records, the band released one EP, Dumpster Mummies. Murder Happy Fairytales, an album, was released in 1995 but not until October 5, 2010.

Poole joined the Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13, which included Normal and Zero. Over the years, the band had many different guitarists, bass guitarists, and drummers, with Poole being the only original member. Frankenstein Drag Queens of Planet 13 wrote and produced every album. Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13 released five studio albums and six EPs with various artists between 1996 and 2002. They have also appeared on Alice Cooper and Sweet tribute albums. Zero was the last individual to leave. Poole assembled another line-up shortly after joining Murderdolls in 2002. The band revealed a reunion in May 2006, which was followed by a tour with Alice Cooper and a box set of the band's complete discography, titled Little Box of Horrors. Zero on drums and Normal on bass guitar in this series. Shortly after the box set was announced, the band split up again.

Joey Jordison of Slipknot was contacted by Poole and was invited to join Murderdolls, Jordison's latest horror punk band. Poole, originally formed as a joint project between Jordison and Tripp Eisen of Static-X and Dope, Poole's Poole, became the band's driving force as the band's lead vocalist moved from bass guitar to lead vocals. Murderdolls' first EP, Right to Remain Violent, was released in 2002, and the same year, Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls, will be released. The bulk of the songs on the album were re-recorded versions of songs by Poole's old band Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13. Two singles were released from the album, including a remix of Billy Idol's "White Wedding." The album debuted at No. 1 on the charts. On the UK album chart, 40 is at number 40.

On January 17, 2004, the Murderdolls performed their last show. They broke up after that, with Jordison returning to Slipknot to announce that the band did not break down for good and that they would return to record their second album. "We're likely to do another Wednesday record, record it in the summer, and have it out about Halloween," Poole told Drum Media on a solo tour in Australia in February. We're currently in talks to produce another Murderdolls album. Well, I'm not sure which of the two options is going to happen right now, but if Murderdolls is a possibility, we'll have to do it, it's gotta be the number one priority. Right now, it's just talks. We're now having the same discussions as we were having in the very beginning of the band. We're just trying to get a game plan together right now."

In March 2010, Jordison told Kerrang!

Murderdolls had returned to work with producer Chris Harris, according to a magazine. "It's been an ongoing conversation between Wednesday and I from 2006 to now," Jordison said. We were bored with everything out there, and we figured we had something to piss people off and shake things up. These days, everything is either a product or a fucking process... fuck formula!

Fuck the norm!"

On August 31, 2010, Murderdolls' second album, Women and Children Last, was released. In an interview on Wednesday, the Murderdolls reported that the Murderdolls had split up for good in 2011.

Poole went on a solo tour of the United Kingdom in March, the Graveyard A Go-Go tour, following the Murderdolls' demise in 2004. He was joined by members of the horror punk band Death Becomes You for his live performances, but this was not meant to be permanent. Poole returned to North Carolina in June 2004 and began to form a more permanent band, with whom he would perform under the name Wednesday 13. He brought Ikky, a former Frankenstein Drag Queens member, into the fold. The band is heavily influenced by KISS and Alice Cooper, although not necessarily straying far from Poole's previous horror punk projects. Matt Montgomery replaced Ikky in September 2004. In November 2004, the 13 Bats Dragged tour descended on Europe. Viking Skull, an English rocker, all supported some of the dates.

Poole produced his first album Transylvania 90210 in 2005, after touring, and produced a music video for the track "I Walked with a Zombie," a Living Dead horror film starring the band members. Following the album's debut, the group embarked on Tour from the Crypt, a tour of the United Kingdom. They appeared on the main stage of the Download Festival at Donington in 2005 and opened some Alice Cooper shows around Halloween.

Poole left Roadrunner Records before deciding to sign a new one with Rykodisc, which also released Fang Bang on September 12, 2006. The European version of the album features a cover of Motörhead's "R.A.M.E.S." The Japanese edition has the same track listing as the European CD, with a bonus track titled "Good Day to Die." The American version features "Burn the Fire," a Roky Erickson cover version, as its only bonus track. Skeletons were first released in the United States on April 29, 2008, and were only available at Hot Topic stores. By DR2 Records, it was announced in the United Kingdom on May 12, 2008.

Poole's first live album, Fuck It, We'll Do It Live, was released on October 14, 2008. In 2008 at Crocodile Rock in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the CD/DVD set was first recorded. It was exclusive to Hot Topic on Wednesday, just as he did for Skeletons. Xanaxtasy, a two-track digital download, was first available on iTunes on December 24, 2010. On December 20, 2010, the collection was announced on Wednesday 13's Facebook page, and it included two songs recorded during his 2009 sessions. "Xanaxtasy" was previously released on limited edition vinyl, and "It's a Wonderful Lie" was previously released on his limited edition vinyl version. During May 2011, Poole unveiled Re-Animated, a remix album/EP, and announced that a portion of all sales for the first month would be donated to the American Red Cross.

Via Bravewords, Calling All Corpses was revealed on Wednesday, July 13, 2013. The album was released in the United States and elsewhere on October 11 and October 10. On February 19, 2013, he dropped his fifth album, Monsters of the Universe: Come Out and Plague, on January 12, 2015. After signing with Nuclear Blast, he released his seventh album, Condolences, on June 2, 2017.

Poole has operated an outlaw country side venture called Bourbon Crow since 2005, under Buck Bourbon's alias. Jeff Washam, the former drummer of Psycho Opera, was in touch with the 13th drummer on Wednesday, and he was going to tour on the East Coast project. Washam was unable to attend the tour due to a lack of transportation. Highway to Hangovers, the band's first album, and Long Way to the Bottom in 2009, the band's second album, Long Way to the Bottom, followed. Off the Wagon on the Rocks, the band's third album, was released in 2015.

Under the band name Gunfire 76, Poole collaborated with Todd Youth of The Chelsea Smiles to produce and record an album with more glam rock sound and without any horror themes. On August 12, 2009, rough mixes of the album's title track, "Casualties & Tragedies," were posted on the band's Myspace page for the fans to get a feel of what the band sounded like. On October 6, 2009, the album was released. On the first Blood tour, Gunfire 76 toured from December 2009 to January 2010, with Bullets and Octane.
