Wayne Bertram Williams (born May 27, 1958) is an American murderer convicted of the 1981 murder of two adult men in Atlanta, Georgia, and who is suspected of at least 23 of the 30 Atlanta murders of 1979–1981, or the Atlanta Child Murders.
He was never charged with the kidnappings and continues to maintain his innocence.
There have been no similar killings of young black men since Williams was convicted in May 1981.
Early life and education
Wayne Williams, son of Homer and Faye Williams, was born on May 27, 1958, and raised in southwest Atlanta, Georgia,'s Dixie Hills neighborhood. Both of his parents were teachers. Williams graduated from Douglass High School and expressed a keen interest in radio and journalism. He built his own carrier current radio station and began frequenting WAOK and WAOK, where he befriended a few of the announcing crew members and began dabbling in becoming a pop music producer and manager.
