Wang Yibo (born 5 August 1997) is a Chinese actor and singer.

He is a member of the UNIQ, the South Korean-Chinese boy band.

Wang was recognized for his role as Lan Wangji in the film The Untamed (2019).

Early life and education

Wang Yibo was born in Luoyang, China, on August 5th. Wang started dancing early in his youth and then took part in the IBD national dance competition in 2011. He went on to become a Yuehua Entertainment apprentice after placing in the top ten in the hip-hop category. Wang studied in South Korea and studied at Hanlim Multi Art School prior to his debut.

Personal life

Wang has been a member of the Yamaha China Racing Team as a pro road motorcycle racer since 2019. Wang competed in the Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) in Zhuhai International Circuit in August 2019, winning the second position in the mixed category and first place in the rookie division.

Wang received several unsolicited phone calls from callers who had purchased his personal phone number online in the first month of the year. Wang answered several of these calls and personally told the callers that he would respect his privacy and cease calling. Fans were encouraged to continue calling him and not to waste their money to buy his number as the calls have adversely affected his privacy. He took to his Weibo account to plead for his help and love him judiciously. Despite the fact that it was difficult for him to inform his loved ones and transfer arrangements related to his phone number, he announced that he would change his number. He shared screenshots of receiving 194 calls from unknown numbers. Yue Hua Entertainment, Wang's operation firm, has threatened to take action, alerting that it has compiled this information and that if necessary, it will hand them over to the authorities.

Career

Wang debuted in 2014 as a member of the South Korean-Chinese boy band group Uniq, with the album "Falling in Love." He served as the group's main dancer and rapper. Wang made his acting debut in the film MBA Partners. He appeared in A Chinese Odyssey Part Three as the second male lead character Zhai Zhiwei and appeared in the romance comedy drama series Love Actually. Wang appeared on the variety show Day Up from 2016 to 2021.

Wang appeared in his first lead role in the youth xianxia drama series Private Shushan Gakuen in March 2017. He received the Best New Idol Award at the Top Chinese Music Awards in April. Wang and Guan Xiaotong performed "Once Again," the movie's theme song. Wang introduced the theme song "Just Dance" for the 4th Xuan Wu Dance Festival in November. Wang appeared in the youth campus drama series When We Were Young and was cast in the science fiction drama series Super Talent, later titled My Strange Friend.

Wang gave a solo dance number at the Hunan Spring Festival in honor of the 2018 lunar new year. Along with other Hunan Television hosts, he also did an adaptation of Uniq's "Happy New Year." Wang debuted as a solo artist in January 2019, with the debut of "Fire."

Wang was confirmed to be a dance mentor in the reality survival show Produce 101 in March 2018. He gained increasing esteem for his dancing abilities on the program. Wang revealed in one of the show's episodes that he suffered from myocarditis during his childhood and had to give up dancing and take intensive medication to recover. He was eventually cured and had to start learning how to dance from scratch. Wang also revealed that after his recuperation, he went to dance lessons for six hours a day.

Wang appeared in the esports romance drama Gank Your Heart in 2019, portraying a misunderstood professional gamer. "Burning Adventure" was also his series's first theme song. Wang recieved his first major acting award for his role as Ji Xiangkong at the 30th China Television Golden Eagle Award for Actor."

Wang appeared in The Untamed, a xianxia drama based on the book Mo Dao Zu Shi, as one of the two male leads alongside Xiao Zhan in the same year. Wang also released "Won't Forget," his character's theme song, as well as a "Unrestrained" duet by Xiao Zhan. Lan Wangji's portrayal earned him increasing fame and esteem in China and overseas. For the first time, Wang made the Forbes China Celebrity 100 and 30 Under 30 list.

Wang's first attempt at songwriting, "No Sense," was released on December 30, 2019. He wrote it occasionally while working on the drama series Legend of Fei. Wang said that the song was about his own feelings and experiences. He wanted his music to reflect his aspirations and maintain a positive attitude. Six million digital copies of the song were sold within 20 minutes of its debut, well over 30 million yuan in total sales. On NetEase Music, the song became the fastest digital single to sell over ten million copies. For the first time at Hunan Television's 2020 New Year's Eve Concert, Wang performed "No Sense" for the first time.

Wang was ranked one of the top four captains of the Beijing dance competition show Street Dance of China Season 3 (!3) in May 2020. Wang received more notice for his street dance experience and abilities as a result of this exhibit. Yang Kai, a member of his team Yi Bo Wang Zha () won the tournament on October 31.

Wang starred in the wuxia drama series Legend of Fei, based on Priest's novel Bandits (), alongside Zhao Liying who played Zhou Fei in December 2020. He also appeared on "First Rays" for the series, which depicts the affectionate confession of his character Xie Yun to Zhou Fei. Both nationally and internationally, the series was hugely popular. After its launch and 4 billion views in one month on Tencent Video, it did not only land a record of over 130 million views in eight hours, but it also landed at the top of the WeTV Thailand and Philippines after a week of simultaneous release.

Wang's fourth single, "My Rules ()" was released on December 30, 2020. The song, which was composed by 24 and Vince from The Black Label with Wang, demonstrates his commitment to follow his own path and discover his self-worth. Wang performed a new record on NetEase Music, which amounts to 30 million yuan, in less than 2 hours and 20 minutes with this album. During the fourth week of January 2021, the single debuted on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales in the fourth week. For the first time at the Hunan Television's 2021 New Year's Eve Concert, Wang Leehom performed "My Rules," where he also appeared in the song "Descendants of the Dragon" with Wang Leehom.

Wang appeared in a modern show called Ox Strut on Tuesday, the zodiac of all three performers, on February 2021. Wang appeared on CCTV's Lantern Festival Gala for the first time last month, performing his song "Youth Comes in Time" for his individual stage. Wang performed the song "Walking With You" alongside Karry Wang and Roy Wang during the grand gala commemorating the founding of the Chinese Communist Party 100 years ago.

Wang appeared in the episode The Choice () of the Chinese film series Faith Makes Great () in June 2021. Wang was chosen as one of nine people to appear in Youku's serial documentary My Legacy and I Season 2, which follows nine Chinese artists' lives and work in their respective fields over the past two and a half years.

Wang is going to appear as a policeman in the crime detective drama Being a Hero, directed by Fu Dongyu. In the period mystery drama series Luoyang with Huang Xuan and Victoria Song, he is also starring Baili Hongyi.

Wang regained his position as one of the originals of the dance competition show Street Dance of China Season 4 in August 2021. Ye Yin, a Wang's team member, won the competition, giving Wang's team their second victory in two seasons. Wang's fifth digital single "Standup" (), which topped the QQ Music New Song Chart, on December 30th, debuted on December 30. The musician appeared for the first time at the Hunan Television's 2022 New Year's Eve Concert the next day.
