Life and career
Gardner was born in Sacramento, California. She attended Sacramento Country Day School from kindergarten to eighth grade. She was involved in many of her middle school's productions. Gardner's sixth-grade teacher, Brian Frishman, was in charge of the drama department. She went online in 2011 when she moved to Los Angeles, but later decided to take the California High School Proficiency Exam when she was allowed to, but in October 2011.
