In Cyrano de Bergerac, his breakthrough role was playing Christian opposite Gérard Depardieu. He had been nominated for the César Award. Takemaru was a University of Nevada Associate Professor of Japanese Studies and taught all levels of Japanese. Anthony Polito, 67, died in a shooting with police on Wednesday after shooting Jan 'Jerry' Chang, Patricia Navarro Velez, both seen top right and Takemaru.

A professor and assistant professor at the University of Nevada's Las Vegas campus have been named as the first victims of the horrific University of Nevada mass shooting. Patricia Navarro, 39, a faculty member of the University's accounting department, and Cha Jan 'Jerry' Chang, 64, were among three employees wounded in the shooting on Wednesday. According to 8NewsNow, Chang's death was ruled as a result of a bullet wound to the head, but a coroner found Navarro died from multiple gunshot wounds.
