Vince Edwards Career

Career

Edwards studied drama at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and his classmates included Anne Bancroft, John Cassavetes, and Grace Kelly. He was signed by Paramount Pictures in 1950, marking his film debut as Vincent Edwards in 1951's Mister Universe. In Hiawatha's first year, he was the lead actor. Although he appeared in numerous films, including film noirs The Killing (1956) and Murder by Contract (1958), it wasn't until he was cast as the title character in Ben Casey's highly acclaimed Ben Casey television series that he rose to fame that he first emerged as a major actor. From 1961 to 1966, the medical drama, which he occasionally directed, spanned time. Edwards released several music albums and appeared in the all-star war film The Victors in 1963 due to the show's success and his own fame. Abby Greshler of Diamond Artists in Hollywood, one of Hollywood's first "super agents," was his representative.

Edwards returned to acting in motion pictures with a major role in the 1968 war drama The Devil's Brigade (1968), The Desperados (1969), and The Mad Bomber (1973). Edwards appeared in another TV series, the short-lived Matt Lincoln, in 1970. Hawk, the main protagonist of the sci-fi film Space Raiders, appeared in 1983. He continued to appear in film as well as in television guest spots, including roles in The Rhinemann Exchange (1977), Evening in Byzantium (1978), and Knight Of The Phoenix's pilot episode in 1982. He produced a number of episodes in a number of television series, including the original Battlestar Galactica. In the 1986 animated film Centurions, Jake Rockwell appeared as the voice of Jake Rockwell. Edwards starred in Dr. Ben Casey's 1988 television film The Return of Ben Casey, twenty-two years after the series ended, and he regained control. In 1995, he made his last film, The Fear, and he died. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly after filming. He descended on the recording studios on occasion, and there were several singles released in his name. Ray Peterson was the first to debut "The Wonder of You" in 1959, which became a National Hit for him and Elvis Presley, but Vince Edwards' first recording was made by Vince Edwards.
