Gupta began working in Balaji Telefilms at the age of 17. He was the producer in Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms' shows such as Mahabharat, Kyunki Bahu Thi, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil, and Pyaar Tune Kiya. Gumrah: The End of Innocence, Warrior High, Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, V. tv Webbed, and MTV Webbed followed him later. In addition, Gupta has been the youngest programming director of MTV India.
