Vic Sotto Career

Career

He began his career as a folk singer and guitarist. Sotto was also the lead vocalist of the disco funk band VST & Company during those years. He released "Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko," "Rock Baby Rock," and "Kung Sakali" among other songs.

He appeared alongside Tito and Val in the early 1970s comedy OK Lang under IBC 13. Joey de Leon, a comedian who had invited the brothers to join him, was where he met Joey de Leon. Tito, Vic and Joey (TVJ) was a team formed, with Iskul Bukol, TVJ (Television's Jesters), Rock and Roll 2000, and hosting Eat Bulaga.

Former OK Lang co-star Joey de Leon invited the Sotto brothers Tito, Vic and Val to co-host an episode of GMA Network's late afternoon variety show Discorama hosted by Bobby Ledesma in 1976. Only Tito and Vic accepted de Leon's invitation. The newly formed trio began doing comedies interspersed with Top 40 hit-song parodies. Originally, the trio was supposed to be a one-off invite as Discorama was supposed to be scrapped, but GMA's management decided against it, after receiving good feedback from the viewers and ratings were high. When the trio first appeared on their Discorama Tough Hits segment, they were invited to be part of the noontime show Student Canteen.

They were given national recognition as comedians on Iskul Bukol, which was part of the sitcom Iskul Bukol. Other television and film offers knocked on the trio's door shortly after.

Tito, Vic and Joey, who were born in 1979, began hosting Eat Bulaga!, a competition against the more established Student Canteen.

Not long after, Eat Bulaga!

Canteen's ratings were thrown out of the charts, according to a defeated student. The trio is still active on both Holy Week Dramas every Lenten Season and also on a comedy variety show on Eat Bulaga.

He has appeared on three networks, ABS-CBN, GMA Network, and TV5 in the last three decades (most of which were for GMA).
