Victor Kwesi Mensah (born June 6, 1993), better known by his stage name Vic Mensa, is an American rapper, singer, guitarist, and record producer.
Mensa was a member of Kids These Days, which died in May 2013, during which he debuted his debut solo mixtape Innanetape.
He is currently signed to Roc Nation. Chance the Rapper, a frequent collaborator, and Mensa is also a maker of the hip-hop group Savemoney.
He is also the creator of the SavemoneySavelife charity, which fights American bigotry in Chicago, and funds three programs focusing on health and the performing arts.

Life and career
Victor Kwesi Mensah was born in 1993 on June 6, 1993. His father is from Ghana, and his mother is a white American. Mensa grew up in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Chancelor Bennett was a freshman at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, and he became Chancelor Bennett later in life (Bennett would later be known as Chance the Rapper).
When he formed Kids These Days in 2009, Mensa began his singing career. The band would eventually debut two projects, including an extended play called Hard Times in 2011 and a remixtape titled Traphouse Rock in 2012.
Following the band's breakup in May 2013, Mensa performed with Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn at Albarn's 2014 appearance at the Governors Ball Music Festival, where he appeared on "Clint Eastwood," filling in for MC Del the Funky Homosapien. Mensa said he would like to collaborate with Albarn sometime in the near future when announcing a tour for 2015.
Mensa was revealed on September 18, 2013 that it would join J. Cole and Wale on the What Dreams May Come Tour. Innanetape, Mensa's debut mixtape, which was released on September 30, 2013.
Danny Brown and the What Dreams May Come Tour joined Europe for the first time on February 21, 2014, and ended on March 8. Mensa was selected to be on the front page of XXL for the 2014 Freshman Class. On May 12, 2014, Mensa's debut single "Down on My Luck" was broadcast in the United Kingdom's urban contemporary radio. Kanye West premiered "Wolves" at his Adidas Originals showcase on February 12, 2015. Mensa himself and Sia were featured in the song. On Saturday Night Live's 40th Anniversary Celebration three days later, the mensa appeared "Wolves" alongside West and Sia. On April 10, Mensa would reveal "U Mad" as a formal collaboration with Kanye West. On the Run Tour in Chicago, eleven days later, Roc Nation revealed that Vic had signed to its brand, and a video of Mensa signing the contract with Jay-Z backstage was released on Tidal. Mensa received the Best Rap Song at the 58th Grammy Awards as a songwriter for co-writing Kanye West's song "All Day" later this year.
Mensa, Travis Scott, and iLoveMakonnen were among Alexander Wang's "WANGSQUAD" campaign launched on February 8, 2016. With Skrillex, Mensa released a single titled "No Chill" on iTunes on February 19, 2010. It was made by Skrillex and Jahlil Beats. Since West updated the album's Tidal track list off the album's seventh studio album The Life of Pablo, Mensa and Sia's collaboration on Kanye West's "Wolves" was posted, Mensa's collaboration on "Wolves" will be released, and Frank Ocean vocals were split into separate tracks on March 16, 2016, Mensa's collaboration on Kanye West's "Wolves" would eventually be released.
Vic Mensa's second extended play, There's Alot Going On, appeared on June 3, 2016. The EP addressed topics such as the Flint water crisis, the assassination of Laquan McDonald, and self-inflicted wounds with just one guest appearance from Ty Dolla Sign. On July 13, Mensa will debut "Wings" starring Pharrell Williams and Saul Williams. The Autobiography was published on July 28, 2017 by Roc Nation. The album featured guest appearances from Weezer, Syd, The-Dream, Chief Keef, Joey Purp, Pharrell Williams, Saul Williams, Ty Dolla Sign, and Pusha T. The album debuted at number 27 on the US Billboard 200 chart this week, with first-week sales of 15,000 copies first week.
On December 14, 2018, Mensa continued his play titled Hooligans and was released later that year. The extended play was aided by the singles: "Reverse" starring G-Eazy and "Dark Things" aided in the success of the extended play.
93Punx, a punk rock and rap band formed in January 2019, releasing a remix of The Cranberries' "Zombie" later in the year. In an ICE-inspired video, 93Punx later released their debut single, "Camp America," a cartoon of children in cages. In July and August 2019, respectively, the singles "3 Years Sober" with Travis Barker and "It's a Bad Dream" with Good Charlotte were followed and published. On August 23, 2019, the self-titled album by the group was released.
Mensa's first single of the year, "No More Teardrops," a song addressing police brutality, street crime, corruption, and the prison system, launched in August 2020. Reprise is the song on Roc Nation's compilation album. V Tape, Mensa's fifth extended play, will be released on August 21, 2020, starring Snoh Alaegra, SAINt JHN, BJ Chicago Kid, Peter Cottontale, and Eryn Allen Kane.
Also in 2020, Mensa will take a leap into acting in Akilla's Escape, in which he played Prince Ariel. The film will go on to be nominated for eight Canadian Screen Awards, with five of them winning five, including Best Original Screenplay.
Mensa dropped the album I Tape out on March 26, 2021, in Roc Nation's history. The album delves into the concepts of the American Dream, which marred his previous works, in which the loss of hope is pushed forward by systematic violence. The album's immediate condemnation and reflection on racial injustice in America and its endorsement of prison reform received rap attention from rap news outlets. Chance The Rapper and Wyclef Jean's album brought a strong wave of success in the underground scene, as well as signaling a return to form for the rapper from a critical viewpoint.
