Umberto Lenzi (6 August 1931 – 19 October 2017) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and novelist. Lenzi, a film buff who has been interested in film since a young age, made his first film in 1958, which went unreleased, until his official debut with Queen of the Seas in 1961.
Lenzi's films of the 1960s followed popular fashions of the day, with him directing several spy and erotic thriller films.
He continued to make giallo films, crime films, and even filming Man from the Deep River's first Italian cannibal film.
