He has served as the holder of the NWA World Historic Middleweight Championship, the CMLL World Tag Team Championship, and the CMLL World Trios Championship on several occasions.

Personal life
Hooligan and Ephesto are misidentified as brothers of José Gutiérrez, according to several websites, but they are not blood relatives. Gutiérrez, Ephesto, and Hooligan met together and became close friends, with some people referring to each other as "brother" without having any blood ties. Both Hooligan and Ephesto are brothers, which is why Ephesto is often mistaken for Gutiérrez's brother as well. "Ltimo Guerrero Jr." was introduced to the wrestling world in 2008. Although it is not common for fake relatives to be praised in lucha libre, it is believed that ltimo Guerrero Jr. is actually the son of ltimo Guerrero. Gran Guerrero will be recalled as Gran Guerrero later today, with the storyline describing Gran Guerrero's much younger brother of ltimo Guerrero.'
Daniel Alvarado (Brazo Sexy) and other Alvarado family members, including José (Máximo Sexy), Felipe Alvarado (La Máscara), Psycho Clown and Robin destroyed a Ford Mustang belonging to Gutiérrez on May 19, 2017. According to reports, the vandalism was inspired by the fact that Gutiérrez had spoken out against Felipe Alvarado as a potential head of the wrestlers' union following the death of Alvarado's father. The head of the CMLL wrestlers' union had been in the Avarado family for more than a decade, and the Alvarado family felt it should go to someone in their family. Felipe and José Alvarado were fired by the following day, according to reports.
Professional wrestling career
Gutiérrez was educated in "Gimnasio El Ranchero" by Tinito and Halcón Suriano, and made his debut in 1990 as "Halcón Dorado" (Spanish for "Golden Hawk). He changed name and "ring persona" or gimmick, and became known as "Flanagan" shortly after his debut. He spent many years in local radios in Durango, Mexico, before getting his first glimpse in Promo Azteca. Guerrero and his training buddy Super Punk changed their names in 1996, with Guerrero's nickname "ltimo Guerrero" ("Last Warrior") and "Super Punk" becoming "ltimo Rebelde") as they began working together, inspired by a British hooligan inspired gimmick. The team had intended to lose their masks in a Luchas mask vs. mask match (a "Bet match") in which the loser would unmask), but instead, ltimo Guerrero joined Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL; "World Wrestling Council") in late 1997 and saved his mask.
In the first-to-third match on the show with some success, Guerrero began lower card matches. He defeated Mr. guila in his first ever Lucha de Apuestas match, causing his opponent to unmask and reveal his real name as part of the CMLL's 65th Anniversary Show on September 11, 1998. Bucanero and Guerrero were two of sixteen teams in the summer of 2000 for the vacant CMLL World Tag Team Championship. They won the championship after beating Villano IV and Mr. Niebla. El Satánico had been writing a storyline against Tarzan Boy, which had been used to turn both Bucanero and ltimo Guerrero against El Satánico in the summer of 2000. Bucanero, Guerrero, and Tarzan Boy all said they deserved the word Los Infernales, and that El Satánico was holding them back. El Satánico's storyline changed Rencor Latino into Averno (Spanish for "Hell") and transformed the Astro Rey Jr. into a character named Mephisto. Since Tarzan Boy was injured and unable to fight Bucanero and Guerrero, Máscara Mágica was recruited in such large numbers. The storyline between the two groups reaches its high point at the CMLL's 68th Anniversary Exhibition, where all seven wrestlers face off in a steel cage match. The match's stipulation was that the winning team would have the right to use Los Infernales, while the losing team would be compelled to unmask or have their hair cut off. El Satánico pinned Máscara Mágica in the end, causing him to unmask. Guerrero, Bucanero, and Tarzan Boy, along with Guerrero, became known as Los Guerreros del Infierno (The Infernal Soldiers) after losing the game Guerrero, Bucanero and Tarzan Boy.
