Ninja Career

Career

In 2009, Blevins first played Halo 3 professionally. Cloud9, Renegades, Team Liquid, and most recently, Luminosity Gaming. In 2011, Blevins became a streamer. He started playing H1Z1 and then went to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. He joined Luminosity Gaming as a Halo player, then to H1Z1, and then to PUBG, where he finished the PUBG Invitational Squads classification in August 2017.

Just after the PUBG Gamescom Invitational, Blevins started streaming the newly announced Fortnite Battle Royale. His fanbase began to grow during the game's increase in success in the late 2017/early 2018 period. Twitch's followers have increased from 500,000 in September 2017 to over 2 million by March 2018.

Blevins became the first Twitch streamer to reach 3 million followers on the website in March 2018. When playing Fortnite with Drake, Travis Scott, and JuJu Smith-Schuster, later that month, he set the record for the most concurrent audience on an individual stream (outside of tournament events). Epic Games, the game engine behind Fortnite, inspired Blevins to host a charity pro-am game starring well-known streamers like Blevins, who appeared alongside famous celebrities in Fortnite at E3 2018, where Blevins met with electronic musician Marshmello and won the tournament. During his appearance in Ninja Vegas 2018, where he gathered an audience of over 667,000 live viewers, he broke his own viewing record.

In June 2018, Blevins partnered with Red Bull Esports and held the Red Bull Rise Till Dawn in Chicago, where players could face him. In April 2019, Red Bull introduced a limited-edition Red Bull can with an image of Blevins.

Blevins' meteoric rise on Twitch is thought to be indiscriminately connected to Fortnite Battle Royale's success. Blevins estimated he had made nearly US$10 million in 2018, but Epic Games announced that they had earned over US$3 billion in sales this year, largely due to Fortnite. He was the first PC player to win 5,000 Fortnite matches in the same month. Epic introduced a Ninja-based cosmetic skin to Fortnite's success in January 2020 as the first part of a "Icon Series" for other real-life characters associated with the game.

Blevins was paid US$1 million by Electronic Arts to promote Apex Legends, a multiplayer battle royale game to Fortnite, for playing the game on his Twitch stream and promoting the game on his social media pages following Apex's launch in February 2019.

Blevins retired Twitch to stream exclusively on Microsoft's Mixer website on August 1, 2019. According to his wife and boss, Twitch's deal limited his potential outside of video gaming, and that "it seemed to be giving him the opportunity to grow his brand outside of video gaming," according to Twitch's community.

Blevins has over 24 million followers on YouTube as of April 2021, in comparison to a large number of Twitch and Mixer users. He was earning over $500,000 a month from streaming Fortnite and attributes the game's free-to-play business model as a growth factor.

Blevins was able to stream on other platforms due to Mixer's shutdown in July 2020. Blevins confirmed on September 10, 2020 that he would return to streaming on Twitch after committing an exclusive multi-year contract and streamed on the website the same day.

Blevins changed his name on his social media pages, such as his Twitter and YouTube, to "Time Out." "I just want a break...I don't know when I will be back or where." Blevins announced on September 8, 2022, that he would be streaming simultaneously on various websites, including Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.

In numerous episodes of the television game show Family Feud in 2015, Blevins and his family were featured. His family returned as contestants on Celebrity Family Feud in an episode that aired in August 2019.

Blevins became the first professional esports celebrity to be included on ESPN The Magazine's front page in September 2018, marking a leap toward mainstream sports success.

Blevins began collaborating with Astralwerks in October 2018 to compile an album titled Ninjawerks Vol. 1 of the original songs performed by experimental music acts. The album was released on December 14, 2018.

Blevins was one of many internet stars featured in YouTube Rewind 2018: Everyone Controls Rewind. Blevins appeared briefly during the NFL's "The 100-Year Game" commercial, as well as several other top professional football players who appeared during Super Bowl LIII in 2019. He was the only one in the industry with no ties to football in any manner.

Blevins has published numerous books with Random House, which has the publication house Random House. Clarkson Potter's Random House imprint was published on August 20, 2019. My Ultimate Guide to Gaming, Clarkson Potter, was released.

"Ice Cream" was one of the Fox reality music competition's second season. After his first appearance on "Whip It" and Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," he was disqualified and was forced to remune. Blevins said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he had accepted an invitation to participate because his wife was a fan of the show.

Blevins partnered with MasterClass to produce a 30-day curriculum in which Blevins gives tips on how to become a profitable streamer in 2022.
