Ty Segall Life

Ty Garrett Segall (born June 8, 1987) is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and record producer.

He is best known for his prolific solo career, along with a number of EPs, singles, and compilation albums, including a 2012 release billed as the Ty Segall Band and another from Tim Presley of White Fence that same year.

Segall is also a member of the Fuzz, Broken Bat, the CIA, and GGG, as a founding member of the Traditional Fools, Epsilons, Party Fowl, Sic Alps, and the Perverts, as well as Ben Boye and Shannon Lay.

The Ty Segall Band, consisting of Cronin (bass), Moothart (guitar), Emily Rose Epstein (drums), and Wand's Cory Hanson, a high concept band formed in 2016 and featuring Sean Paul (guitar), Andrew Luttrell (bass), and Moothart (drums).

Early life

Segall is the adopted son of a Laguna Beach, California family; his father is a lawyer, and his mother is an artist. Segall began surfing at the age of ten, although he was in high school when he first became interested in music. He characterized his teenage self as "very existential eighteen-year-old drinker" whose temperament was temporarily tempered by escapism music. MTV produced the reality series Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County in MTV during Segall's two years at Laguna Beach High School. Segall criticized the program for driving away his hometown's unique mix of hippies, writers, and surfers because "people can't afford to live there now." And you can't get any of the rad, gritty shit back." Segall and his high school buddy, Mikal Cronin, parodied the TV show in a 2007 music video by their grunge band Episilons. Segall earned a degree in Media Studies after high school. He spent eight months designing grow boxes for cannabis plants after graduating, but has since then been solely focusing on music.

Ty Segall Career

Recording career

Segall began his music career as a part-time musician in various underground bands in Orange County and San Francisco Bay Area, including Epsilons and Evil Robots, before starting a solo career in 2008. The cassette Horn The Unicorn was Segall's first solo release on the Wizard Mountain label (later re-released by HBSP-2X on vinyl records). Wizard Mountain also released Halfnonagon, a split cassette starring Segall and the band Superstitions.

Dwyer, Segall's first solo album, Ty Segall (2008), on his label, Castle Face Records, after Segall befriended John Dwyer, of Thee Oh Sees and Coachwhips. "The music community is amazing here, super tight, and John Dwyer's like the Mayor of San Francisco." You'll probably see him riding his bike, sipping a beer, and then taking you out for a taco. "He's the nicest guy in the world." Larry Hardy, the maker of In The Red Records, talked about the possibility of a band featuring Segall and Dwyer in a recent interview.

Ty Segall was followed by a series of limited 7" singles and a split LP with the band Black Time. Goner Records' Lemons were released in 2009 to rave reviews. This was followed by a string of commercial and limited 7" singles, as well as the album Reverse Shark Attack, co-laborator Mikal Cronin. In 2010, and 2011, respectively, the studio albums Melted and Goodbye Bread were followed.

Segall: Hair, with White Fence, was released in April; Slaughterhouse, performed with his touring band and was released on June 26; and Twins, a solo album, were both released on October 9. "The Hill" and "Would You Be My Love" were two songs from this last album. Segall responded to his LP Twins by saying: "I want to do a complete glam Stooges-meets-Hawkwind or Sabbath, or something similar." That sounds like a lot of fun. I want to scare people off. I want to make a good name for myself: an evil, nefarious space rock. You get the sound when you put a little Satan in space.

Segall, Charles Moothart, and Roland Cosio formed Fuzz, a new hard rock band formed in 2013, releasing three 7" singles. In May, a full-length album titled Fuzz was released in May and then released on October 1, 2013. Sleeper, Segall's primarily acoustic solo album, was released in August prior to this release. Sleeper's father's death and subsequent alienation from his mother were among Pitchfork and Consequence of Sound's most popular publications. Segall performed at the final "holiday camp" version of the All Tomorrow's Parties festival in Camber Sands, England, UK, in November/December 2013.

Segall's first double album, as well as his first to incorporate some psychedelic sounds, were released in 2014. Segall toured in favor of the cause, assuaging Wand, who had subscribed to his name before.

Segall recorded his debut album by Peacers in 2015, which included his former Sic Alps bandmate Mike Donovan. On Famous Class, a new EP, Mr. Face, was released, and in October 2015, there was a second Fuzz album, II, was released.

Segall unveiled a new studio album, Emotional Mugger, in November 2015. Sending a VHS tape to Pitchfork was a big deal. Later, a website www.emotionalmugger.com would feature a short video of Segall addressing the concept of emotional mugging, a video of his band wearing baby masks, and a live version of a song from the new album. In addition, this latest video featured a hotline number to call. Segall's message on the number, 1-800-281-2968, includes a short message from the company. The video also introduces The Muggers, which, on the album's debut, Segall formed as a back band. Mikal Cronin (bass, sax), Kyle Thomas (guitar), Emmett Kelly (guitar), and Wand's Cory Hanson (keyboards, guitar) and Evan Burrows (drums). Segall adopted the word Sloppo when wearing a baby mask during live performances. This album was still in Rock as Segall's first experimental rock album.

Ty Segall, Segall's ninth studio album, was revealed in November 2016. Following the release of his eponymously titled debut album in 2008, the album was to be his second self-titled release. It was preceded by the introduction of the single "Orange Color Queen" in November 2016. On January 19, 2017, the song "Break A Guitar" was released on streaming platforms. Segall performed with the backing band that performed the album, which was now called The Freedom Band, shortly after the album's release.

Segall's album showcases his versatility as a guitarist, to Bob Dylan-esque country rock, to Pink Floyd's breadth and social analysis, to a jam band sound. Segall describes the album as a "song album"—one without a single concept or sound. "Warm Hands (Freedom Returned)," the album's ten-minute centerpiece, begins with Segall's signature punk-inspired thrashing guitar, but the song becomes open and airy around the five-minute mark, before repeating the melody from "Freedom" (the album's second track). Comparisons have been drawn between this most recent album and Segall's 2012 release Twins, which was also a compilation of Segall's various influences and styles up to that time in his career. On January 26, 2018, Segall's Goblin released the album Freedom's Goblin.

Segall's twelfth studio album, First Taste, consisted of songs that were not using guitars. On the accompanying tour, Segall and the Freedom Band performed the album on full throttle, as well as other 'full' performances from previous releases.

The Opposition with Jordan Klepper (2017) and Corporate (2018) Klepper, along with three Comedy Central television shows, The Opposition with Jordan Klepper (2017) and Corporate (2018).

Segall Smeagol, a set of covers of six tracks from Harry Nilsson's legendary album Nilsson Schmilsson's epic album Nilsson Schmilsson's classic album Nilsson Schmilsson, was out in the United States and Canada at the start of the 2020 coronavirus pandemic outbreak in the United States and Canada. The album is free to download.

On August 3, 2021, Segall surprise-released his thirteenth studio album, Harmonizer. The album was co-produced by Cooper Crain and Denette Segall's wife, Denée Segall. In early 2022, he released Whirlybird, a soundtrack album to the film that had previously appeared in the US Documentary category at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

"Hello, Hi," Segall's home studio, his fourteenth studio album, was released on July 22, 2022. "Hello, Hi is generously rendered by Ty, mainly by himself at home," the album's press release stated. The loneliness suits the songs: as you are alone in the mirror, you're only ever at home.'
